Is foxhunting even popular in rural constituencies? I knew a New Labour Spad at the time the Countryside Alliance was taking off. He grew up in rural Devon and didn't at all buy the idea that his erstwhile neighbours were liviid about foxhunting. Sir Bill Wiggin was a very prominent hunting supporter. Ellie Chowns got lots of direct switchers.

In the Peak District there is a small village called Flagg that was famous for holding a point to point horse racing event on Easter Tuesday. It was always popular with the hunting set but also used to draw in crowds from all over Derbyshire.

I can remember going there in 2011 when this bloke ranted on the public address system about how he wanted Cameron's new government to repeal the laws banning fox hunting. The rant got around of applause from a small minority of the crowd but the majority of people at the event just ignored him. He clearly didn't get his way and from what I can see the event doesn't appear to have taken place since 2011.

Rarely a suitable pursuit for arable rural areas, farmers would have a fit at packs of horses trampling their crops.

Someone I went to school with worked at Burger King for a while, not sure why. The rest of us either didn't work or found something more salubrious. I worked in Circle K and at a plant nursery. There were summer jobs going at PCAS and Eagle Star Insurance. This was in the early 90s, when the economy wasn't great. Badenoch in the late 90s shouldn't have found it hard to find a better option.
