Like the ones you get from desert archaeological digs - old and dessicated, bleached as white as white can be, and often so embedded in the past that they fall apart when brought into the modern world.
And there was me thinking of swastika cock tattoos.

If I was a judge and one of them said they'd deliberately gone out to do it because they were a right nasty piece of work and all their life they'd hated coppers and Muslims, I'd be tempted to let them off just for being honest.

Every nutter in Christendom is up in arms at the arrest of Telegram founder Pavel Durov. He’s been upsetting the French Secret Service by being uncooperative on terrorist and organised crime issues, apparently. Friends of the Kremlin are outraged at this alleged attack on free speech by the Deep State.
The 39-year-old tech chief was reportedly detained after his private jet landed at Le Bourget airport on the outskirts of Paris.

News broadcasters BFMTV and TF1 have quoted unnamed sources as saying the Russian-born entrepreneur - who became a French citizen in 2021 - was the subject of a search warrant.

Both outlets suggest the investigation was focused on a lack of moderators on Telegram and potential criminal activity by users.

Neither French police, the Interior Ministry, nor Telegram have commented on those claims.

The Russian embassy in France has called for consular access to Durov and demanded his rights be ensured

Actually, I suppose a gammon joint is a Wetherspoons pub.
I'm nicking that for an RPG setting I'm working on.
The setting's a town with snooty elves, hard working dwarves and an influx of other citizens.
Influencers (in the style of Wormtongue) are riling up the underclass types to do the Elvfs dirty work.

So Far I have names for 3 of the 4 pubs.
* The old oak - Elven clientele serving fine wines and salads.
* The canary - Dwarf pub serving ale and sandwiches.
* The Horns - Rough wayfarer's pun on the road to the docks - Landlord's a minotaur.

The flat roofed pub will now be the Gammon Joint.

The Cultural Wastelend that is Fascism.

A warning from history.4
(vaguely tongue in cheek, but not if you're there).

As if the fall of Singapore in 1942 ( "Velly solly, no more clicket!") wasn't warning enough...
Benito's successors of the third axis power are repeating the outrage.

The Italian town that banned cricket

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cr5njmgmvq7o
He points to a group of Bengali teenagers who got “caught” playing their national sport at the local park. Unaware they were being filmed by security cameras, their game was broken up by a police patrol who gave them a fine.
It all sounds like some funny misunderstanding with a park-keeper played by Stephen Lewis.
But the story grows darker.
“They say cricket is not for Italy. But I’ll tell you the truth: it’s because we are foreigners," Miah says.

The ban on cricket has come to symbolise the deep-seated tensions that are flaring up in Monfalcone.

The town has an ethnic make-up unique in Italy: of a population of just over 30,000, nearly a third are foreigners. Most of them are Bangladeshi Muslims who began to arrive in the late 1990s to build giant cruise-ships.

As a consequence the cultural essence of Monfalcone is in danger, according to mayor Anna Maria Cisint, who belongs to the far-right League party.

She swept to power on the back of anti-immigration sentiment - and has gone on a mission to “protect” her town and defend Christian values.
And here the story repeats, the same old Fascist playbook tropes.
* Deep seated tensions.
* Immigrant population recruited to perform dangerous and unpopular work, but vilified.
* "Not for Italy" is cheap shorthand for "Being outdoors while brown".
* Won't somebody think of the Christians.

This chap https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Sheppard clearly missed the anti Christian implications of Cricket.

A very sound bloke, on the right side about almost everything.

You only have to look at his chosen dioceses to see where his priorities lay.
East end, Liverpool.
No leafy sinecure at one of those old wool town with a gigantic church and a congregation of fifteen.

There's also that cracking quote after he dropped a catch off "Fiery" Fred Trueman's bowling.
Should'a kept the 'ands together Reverend.
