Fun fact: the lead actor in I, Daniel Blake, comedian Dave Johns, did a gig at my uni (this being many years before the film, obviously). The groups he took the piss out of included people with eating disorders, obese people, women in general, gay people and lazy students. He was an absolute cunt, rude and arrogant to the union staff who booked him (he clearly thought uni gigs were beneath him) and not particularly funny with it, his jokes largely being mocking and cruel rather than, say, Jimmy Carr style. And given I saw him do part of the same routine on TV a couple of years later on an upcoming comedian talent show (that he didn't progress through), I'd guess it was his usual routine rather than a one-off bad night where he decided to try some new edgy material.

In fairness to Corbyn, Stafford did indeed return a Labour MP in 1997*, and stuck with him right the way through to 2010.

Unfortunately for Corbyn, by the time he was finished as Labour leader following GE2019, Stafford was as safe for the Tories as it had been way back in 1983.

*Extra marks if you can name who the defeated Tory candidate was in 1997. Let's just say the local farmers had to make sure their pigsties were extra secure that particular year.
