One seems to have 3 houses that he rents so I expect he will vote against that bill too.
I wonder whether they're the left bloc they're made out to be. I'm sure Gaza is a strong point in common, plus some other foreign policy stuff, and they can probably all unite on broadbrush "tax other people more and spend more on people like us". But in the not too distant past, lots of Muslims annoyed over Labour policy on Iraq gravitated to the Lib Dems. I expect there's some variation in the group, and I wonder if being tied to Jez will suit them all forever.

The reason seems to be that his Independent allies are worried about the impact on low budget private Islamic schools and voted against. That's the thing with Independents, they aren't beholden to unrepresentative special interests...

This isn't even a political party. So interesting he's decided to defer to group management on something he's always supported.
Not so principled then?

From a Channel 4 interview just before his last film came out. I suspect our intrepid tweeter was thinking of his describing a certain kind of satire which functions as ‘an exotic display for the court’ but the whole thing is actually rather good.

I don't think we've mentioned the latest piece of Corbyn stardust, his foolish involvement with the Chris Kaba case. Jez chose to show up and pump his fist at a Justice for Chris Kaba rally, with all the implication that the police officer was a racist murderer.

When I heard who Kaba actually way, my reaction was "sure, that doesn't justify killing him", but the trial quickly established that there was ample legal justification.. Kaba's car was sought in connection with some men walking around with a shotgun the day before. He was surrounded and challenged, and rammed the vehicles to try and escape- as well he might, as far as he was concerned he was about to be nicked for attempted murder, though the Police didn't know who he was. The officer credibly believed he was a lethal danger to the colleagues surrounding him and fired. Jury duly acquitted him. Justice, you might think.

I don't expect Jez to have known the facts- there's no way he could have done- but he's been around long enough not to dive in like this. Arguably, there was no prospect of a conviction and the CPS shouldn't have tried. I'm sure the officer doesn't think this (he was named and will now have to worry about Kaba's mates coming after him) but it was lucky there was a trial. Had there not been, we'd no doubt have had extensive innuendo about the case, with no doubt Jez playing his full part, in ignorance of the facts, however corrosive this stuff is. As it is, I think he's just gone quiet.

Terrible judgement, as always. Or, as some call it, "principles".

This sounds like an odd reason to oppose.
“I cannot support this application in its current form and wish to register my strongest objection to it,” he said, adding: “In no way in a borough with over 15,000 families in housing need and where of existing tenancies around 40 per cent live in social housing can this be called an appropriate development.”
The chance of the council redeveloping the tower site instead with more social and affording housing is zilch.

I wonder if the objection is to the Archway redevelopment more widely, and The Telegraph are being disingenuous.

As correct as this is in terms of what he couldn’t have known, it’s worth bearing in mind that on many occasions he’s been fully aware of the facts and *still* chosen to side with whatever he thinks is the most “right on” (e.g. Novichek poisoning, war in Syria). He’s been around long enough, but there’s scant evidence he ever considers waiting before diving in feet first.

Jez and a few others have written a letter.

https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/202 ... other-name
Labour’s first budget punishes the “working people” they claim to support. Keir Starmer and Rachel Reeves promised to deliver real change to the electorate, after 14 years of Tory rule. This week, they have broken that promise. This budget is austerity by another name.
This is a complete lie. Just because there are some cuts you don't like (and they're right about benefit cuts), that doesn't make it "austerity".

Nor does "failure to redistribute wealth and power" make it "austerity" either. It was the second biggest peacetime tax raising budget ever, and with the top decile getting by far the biggest rise,

As ever, swipe at Defence spending. Why might we be wanting to do that? He doesn't care of course. Eastern European allies can "get round the table",

Interesting that none of the Gaza independent MPs have signed it, though two who didn't win have. I wonder if attitudes to benefits among their local base might be less generous than among Jez's base. And Ellie Chowns hasn't signed it, though the other 3 Green MPs have.
