Positive thought: a lot of that type of voter from 2016 are probably dead from old age now

This is also positive.

On the stunning new jobs report, I'm not sure people appreciate how big it is that the Harris campaign has fought back to something close to parity on the economy. The new Cook Report poll shows Harris and Trump *even* on inflation!

When the news reports shootings, MAGA weirdoes and unhinged political movements.

It's good to remember that America has some awesome people.
And close to the top of that list is Dolly Parton.

Dolly Parton announces $1m donation to Hurricane Helene recovery

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cpdq65185qdo
Music icon Dolly Parton has announced she will make a personal donation of $1m (£762,000) towards disaster recovery efforts in the wake of Hurricane Helene.

Speaking at an event in her home state of Tennessee on Friday, the 78-year-old said the money would come "from my own bank account".

Parton's local commercial ventures - including the Dollywood amusement park - would also donate the same amount to the Mountain Ways Foundation, which is aiding those affected by flooding in the region.

Stormy Daniels has been doing a series of shows in the US with a stand-up comedian. She's quite an engaging speaker, and not stupid. I'd be curious to hear her thoughts, but unfortunately, the broadcaster will probably only want to hear about one thing.

Harris has said she'll put a Republican in the Cabinet, and it's had some bad reaction like this.

Her campaign started with the "fuck you" attitude that signaled the Dems finally understood the post-Trump landscape. And then it transformed into the 1990s playbook like this. I really hope they know what they're doing because I'm skeptical that his gets her even one additional vote on balance.
As others have said though, I think this is a mistaken attitude. Lots of people like bipartisanship where it's possible. It's not "1990's playbook". The Veterans Association brief is something where a sane Republican with military experience could be an asset.

The tradition of bipartisan appointments in the US (admittedly, not always to the Cabinet) is pretty substantial, not at all limited to one era.

I think it’s a clever move, because long term it opens a door back to respectability for any post-Trump Republican with eyes on a presidential run. You can say you served in cabinet, but not in the tartrazine toddler’s clusterfuck thunderdome of an administration.

And short term, it gives those exact same people a very strong reason to not bow down to the MAGA cult. Which weakens Trump further.

EXCLUSIVE: Poll Finds Large Chunk of Haley Voters Ready to Ditch Trump

Republican and independent backers of the former U.N. ambassador are far more open to voting Democratic than four years ago.

When Republicans run in swing races, they generally stress difference from Trump, and outperform him. So there's already something there to work away at.

I’ll admit that Harris welcoming the endorsements of the Cheneys was giving me proper Hillary Clinton boasting about her friendship with Kissinger vibes, but I don’t suppose it’s likely that she’s going to be appointing Dick as Czar of Torture or letting Liz draw up new waterboarding protocols, so…

Trump voters (and Marjorie Taylor Green), having already vehemently denied the existence of anthropogenic climate change, are now claiming that the US government is not only changing, but controlling and directing the climate for political reasons.

This stuff really does make you question the true value of universal suffrage.
