That comeback he’s after isn’t happening, and I think he knows it. He knows that his life is now wanking for pennies for Dacre - who loathes him for failing to secure the gong he desperately wanted, knows that his hated successor Sunak will be going on to a comfortable life where he is light years richer than he is (which will utterly eat him up), knows all he has is screaming kids and a wife who will have noticed he really is getting quite rotund and thin on top, and knows that his equally hated enemy in Starmer is embarrassing him with his competence and humility.
