I see the Prime MInister is looking at an autumn election. Fine. It demonstrates to me that Sunal cannot do politics. Whilst there is the hope on his part that an improving economy will swing voters behind him, he will go into an autumn election on the back of another thrashing in the May local elections,the third on the trot where the Conservatives will have been spanked. It will enable opposition parties around the country to knock on doors and gain vital polling information months in advance, meaning when we do get a General Election they will have an even better idea where their support might be than otherwise could be the case.

It also means that this zombie parliament will drag on with little new work to do, other than trying to force the Rwanda bill through against the wishes of the House of Lords who will point its many and substantial defects.
