GB News suspends Laurence Fox over comments about journalist Ava Evans
"We're past the watershed so I can say this. Show me a single self-respecting man that would like to climb into bed with that woman - ever, ever," he said.

"That little woman has been fed, spoon-fed oppression day after day after day.

"And she's sat there and I'm going like - if I met you in a bar and that was like sentence three, [the] chances of me just walking away are just huge.

"We need powerful strong, amazing women who make great points for themselves."

He then added: "Who'd want to shag that?"
Host Wootton, who could be seen laughing at points as Fox spoke, issued two statements apologising on X, calling the remarks "totally unacceptable" and saying he had reacted "out of shock".

He continued: "Having looked at the footage, I can see how inappropriate my reaction to his totally unacceptable remarks appears to be and want to be clear that I was in no way amused by the comments."

The BBC wasn't using the whole quote:

“Show me a single self-respecting man that would like to climb into bed with that woman. Ever. EVER. Who wasn’t an insult. Who wasn’t a cucked little insult”.

“We need powerful, strong, amazing women who make great points for themselves. We don’t need these Feminist 4.0, they’re pathetic, and embarrassing. Who’d want to shag that?”

MisterMuncher wrote: Wed Sep 27, 2023 12:54 pm There's two possible explanations. Well, there's three, but "Wooton is well liked, popular, brings in a huge audience and is too big to fail" is obviously just fucking stupid.

He's either got enough dirt in the locker to bring the whole shitshow down (either his own actions being tied to the channel, or direct extortion of his bosses for their behaviour) or he's being looked out for because he has something else (probably a big story about someone else) that could be deployed in extremis to take the heat off.
My take on it is because Martin Brann... sorry, Dan Wooton has made a half-arsed apology (that also makes himself look like an unprofessional eejit) because he knows he's fortunate that GBeebies will otherwise defend having him on their broadcasts despite all the current allegations against him. If he was taken off the air along with the earnings that come with it the chances of him slipping into another UK wingnut welfare role that would give him at least the same prominence & pay that he currently enjoys is close to zero (worth noting that the M**l seems to have silently dropped him). So he knows where his bread is buttered, especially with his recent GoFundMe getting nowhere near enough for his liking. OTOH KGBN is a part time side hustle for Fox - whom from the couple of clips I've seen of him there would struggle to read an autocue if his life depended on it - that is otherwise likely independently well off enough not to need to the money, in getting suspended/fired gets the opportunity to play the "free speech"martyr card for even being too hot for GBN to handle. Wins all 'round for Fox as far as he's concerned, plus he gets to put the "Who'd shag that?" phrase into the lexicon for pub bore cunts and dirty old men.

I can well imagine that Foxy has crossed the line for its oldie racist audience here.
As it ever was. Thin line between "Tits oot" and "No daughter of mine is going out dressed like that". While lambasting the Muslims for covering their women up. With the carnival, there's the idea of black people being savages, incapable of curtailing their base desires.

Both are manifestations of the very fucked up approach to sex from the British media/people. Very much "No, actually, let's be mature and sensible about this and it's a perfectly normal process and pfffft, look, willies!". On the issue of how women dress, that's just basic men wanting to control women.

Update: Branning/Wooton's been suspended too.

Dan Wootton suspended from GB News after comments on his show by Laurence Fox, broadcaster says
Considering everything else that has been spewed on this outlet, I've got to suspect that either GBeebies must fear a heavy Ofcom sanction/fine and are in damage limitation mode, or that such a comment must have touched a very raw nerve with someone high up in the channel.
