Well, that’ll go down with hopelessly-starved-of-resources-and-funding Chief Constables and Police & Crime Commisioners up and down the country like a fucking Sports Direct mug of barely warm vomit. I’d guess.

Faced with evidence of systematic racism in a number of polices forces and evidence that hundreds of police officers are being investigated for sexual assaults on colleagues and members of the public Suella has concluded that her priority is to root out police officers who have different political views to her.

Thick as shit

Suella Braverman is planning to impose strict vetting on diversity training courses for Home Office staff after criticisms from right-leaning media that the department has given in to “woke” culture.

Leaked documents show the Home Office has drawn up plans to halt courses that are deemed to promote policies contrary to those of the government, including critical race theory.

Instead, senior managers will be given powers to decide whether diversity and inclusion courses are compulsory, voluntary, can be attended within work time, or must be attended outside work time...

She really doesn't get that without all this woke diversity bollocks she wouldn't be where she is today, and it's only the continuation of all this woke diversity bollocks that has enabled her to stay in post. There was a time in this country, not that long ago, when being both a woman and brown would have been major obstacles in the path of "getting in in life". She may think she's doing the classic Tory "Fuck you, Jack. I'm alright" pull the ladder up behind her thing, but without the continuation of all this woke diversity and equality bollocks there would be nothing to stop the white men in her Party telling her to fuck off back where she came from, and put their words into deeds and give her the boot, which, undoubtedly, many of them would be delighted to do.

I’m not sure she doesn’t get it, and that this is very much part of it. There’s nothing the Tories like more than making themselves feel special and better off, and what better way to do that than to make it near impossible for anyone to emulate what you’ve done unless they have the right connections - connections you and your chums control.

Braverman doesn’t want another Braverman, because that would make her stand out less - especially as her peers in terms of background are likely to be less utterly awful (on the basis she has to be at the shitty end of the scale) . Why bother to be notable for being good and competent when you can be lazy, shit but still notorious and still get the headlines?

In defence of Patel - and I use the word defence here as reluctantly as is humanly possible - I would argue Braverman has surpassed her in every way and now Patel is just a lesser Braverman. She’s stupider, ruder, more self entitled and self important, certainly more cruel and also far, far more ambitious.

And also, thankfully, far more likely to crash and burn when the results of her ambition and hubris coupled with physics-defying negative levels of talent come to fruition. A Patel Tory leadership would have been a gaffe-strewn shitshow. A Braverman Tory leadership could be an extinction-level event for them.

The Home Office. Again.

The Home Office used a report by shaving company Gillette to tryand determine a migrant’s age, a judge has found.

The practice came to light in the case of an Afghan asylum seeker who challenged a Home Office decision that he was 25 - with a judge eventually ruling that he was 16.

The unnamed asylum seeker arrived in the UK on a small boat in October 2021, having been rescued when the vessel got into difficulty in the English Channel.

Home Office assessors decided that he was an adult upon his arrival, but a judge has criticised their approach saying it relied on out-of-date sources and a questionable methodology.

The ruling, issued earlier this month, found that Home Office officials referred in part “to a report from Gillette in respect of the age at which individuals start shaving”, alongside an “odd” article from Forbes magazine which appeared to be related to US business practices...

https://www.standard.co.uk/news/uk/home ... 08818.html
What the fuck were these people thinking?

“My view is that the references to these dubious articles and their use to question the applicant’s credibility, undermine the report as a whole,” ruled Upper Tribunal Judge Owens.

After scrutinising the individual’s Afghan identity card, which Home Office officials did not believe was genuine, the judge found it was authentic and he was a minor when he entered the UK...
Who, in their right mind, would use a pseudo-scientific report cooked up by an American business as the basis for determining a person's age? I'm pretty sure I wasn't the only 15 year-old who was shaving regularly. Should I have been slung out of school and told to get a job?

...Speaking to the Times newspaper, Enver Solomon, chief executive of the Refugee Council, said the case exposed the complexity of assessing an individual’s age.

“Distinguishing between adults and children is not something that can be done quickly; it takes time and expertise to make the right decision,” he said.

“But the reality is that poor quality decisions are resulting in far too many children being wrongly age-assessed and put at risk.

“We know from our work that this has dreadful ramifications for these children who simply want to be safe and are then left alone with no one to protect them.”...
The mind boggles at the continual revelations of monumental fuck-ups perpetrated by this Department.

My big brother has a whole school photo from about 1972 when young men were hairy. The school rule was that, whilst sideburns and moustaches were permitted, beards were banned. The result is the top two rows of older boys are full of lads who have perfected the art of shaving their chins to leave a razor blade wide gap. "If it doesn't join up, it's not a beard, is it, Sir?" The image is quite comical.
