It is true that the public probably haven't been prepared for short term costs. It's easy to talk about green jobs and opportunity but we wouldn't be doing this if we didn't have to. But it's kind of his job to make the point that there is a cost, but costs of not doing it are higher. They make that sort of argument all the time with Defence spending, what's the problem here? If you just say "fuck it, not paying the costs", that isn't moderate.
As I said yesterday … it gets polarised between extremes. There are people who just want to deny climate change is happening – they’re wrong – and on the other side there are people who approach this with more ideological zeal where they just don’t care about the impact on families.He's still going with this stuff, Mr Sensible Moderate.
