Susan Hall this time.

https://bylinetimes.com/2023/08/30/cons ... of-empire/
Susan Hall has thrown her weight behind Restore Trust, which has been highly critical of the National Trust’s efforts to add historical context to buildings and land it owns which were linked to Britain’s role in slavery.

In a tweet posted this month, Hall said: “History can teach us so much about our place in the world and how we build a better future. We shouldn’t deny this to future generations by rewriting it or removing statues. We cannot let our heritage be torn apart by today’s divisive politics”.

Considering history was rewritten by her sort to deny future generations the truth, rewriting it to put the truth back in isn't denying anybody anything. And who are the architects and main practitioners of today's divisive politics?

More bollocks from yet another lying Tory cunt.

Is she running for Mayor of London, or Governor of South Carolina?

Information is "tearing apart heritage". That's the attitude that's going to get the educated and ambitious in her column.

The new Sec for Energy; if we have a hard winter, fuel bills still this side of stupid, I’m sure she’s going to bring the energy companies into line

Claire Coutinho has been confirmed as the new energy secretary, replacing Grant Shapps.

Here is a little bit about her:

Studied maths and philosophy at Oxford University
Worked at Merrill Lynch before moving to the think tank, the Centre for Social Justice
Elected Conservative MP for East Surrey in December 2019
A close ally of Prime Minister Rishi Sunak
Worked as a special adviser in the Treasury
Served as minister for disabled people and minister for children in the education department
Contestant on Channel 4 cooking game show The Taste, involving Nigella Lawson, in 2014

Academic freedom: A cause celebre for Tories - until it becomes inconvenient.

Antoinette Sandbach: Ex-MP asks to be removed from slavery research

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-66648763
A former Conservative MP has asked to be removed from an award-winning academic's research presented in a TEDx Talk that connects her to a slave-owning ancestor, the BBC can reveal.

Malik Al Nasir named Antoinette Sandbach as a descendant of Samuel Sandbach in a video published in 2021.

The Liverpool merchant had a stake in plantations in the West Indies.

Ms Sandbach argues there is no public interest in identifying her as his descendant.

An early example of massive public money going to the already well-heeled.

I was surprised at this. Clearly, she's no Richard Drax, having walked out of the Tories in 2019 over the Kipper bollocks, effectively giving up her career.

She offers a defence in this thread. She's saying the issue is data breaches, but seems to be a typo in the thread, so don't understand it. But I'm sure she's aware of "Streisand", so maybe a genuine issue. In fairness to her, she's had death threats (doubtless over Brexit), so might well be a bit sensitive.

More 3D chess, this time from Gillian Keegan.

Not unknown for lists like this to be leaked. Failing that, the Guardian, Mirror, FT, BBC say "Is your school affected? Let us know". And pissed off school managers, pupils, teachers, parents do exactly that. Sort of story that might build nicely. Day 1, we've got 50 the government won't tell you about. Day 2, Day 3 etc. Hopefully with some nice footage of Keegan and Sunak running away from reporters.
