According to James O'Brien, Farage's account with Coutts was indeed closed because he did not meet the bank's standard requirements on cash and/or assets, However, he was offered an account with Nat West (which it turns out owns Coutts), which he declined -and, of course, lied about it.

By the way, the French mechanic that repaired Farage's Volvo after its wheel fell off a few years back dismissed the notion that the car had been deliberately sabotaged as totally absurd.

If only whoever sabotaged Farage's plane when he survived it crashing had done a better job.

He's also encouraged all the other cranks to come out of the woodwork to complain about how their polite questioning of Pride-related decor was misconstrued as a homophobic rant ending with a threat to firebomb the branch and take their banking somewhere else that wasn't bending over to the limp wristed woke brigade.

Three or four cranks, each with their "woe is me" tale, subtly cleaned up and made to align by the sub-editors, columnists piling on, the FREEZE PEACH implications, the rentaquote MPs ("Would you describe this as having a 'chilling effect', Mr Backbench?"). Banks maintaining a dignified silence. Already it's bigger than just him, so even though his sory is blown, people can fall back on Reverend Gaybasher and say "Aaaah, but it's not just Fargle, it's this vicar as well...".

And that's why we can't have nice things.

At first I thought Coutts must be really concerned by all this bad PR, but in reality, can you imagine the sort of people they have banking with them? Certainly not the sort of people who struggling to meet a few million quid threshold. Really, they're probably not losing much sleep over this. Farage is small fry compared to a lot of their customers, I'd have thought. Noisy, but a complete nonentity. I'm sure their multi-billionaire customers won't be closing their accounts over it,

Fargle's belief is "You can fool all of the gammons all of the time".

He may have a point.

All he seems to be disputing now is that they offered him a Nat West account straight away. Not the most serious thing in the world, really. Has he named all the banks that turned him down yet?

So the so-called "man of the people" Farage reacts to being told that because he no longer meets the threshold for holding an account with an exclusive bank for those that are definitely in the 1% but that he can have one with what is essentially the same firm but which involves him banking alongside the common folk, by throwing a strop fit for a spoilt cunt?

I'm guessing he's no longer meeting the Coutts threshold with the Russia Rouble continuing to steadily free fall against sterling (it's fallen another ~5% in value in the past week)?

I know we've already 'done' this story, but I really enjoyed reading this...

Nigel Farage fell below the financial threshold required to hold an account at Coutts, the prestigious private bank for the wealthy, the BBC has been told.

It is understood he was subsequently offered a standard account at NatWest which owns Coutts.

Mr Farage has said he believes his account is being shut for political reasons and he has since been turned down by nine other lenders.

But people familiar with Coutts' move said it was a "commercial" decision.

"The criteria for holding a Coutts account are clear from the bank's website," they told the BBC.

Coutts requires its customers to borrow or invest at least £1m with the bank or hold £3m in savings...

He [Fargle] added that his business account was being closed despite the fact that last year he had "large significant positive cash balances" going through it.
It wasn't the money they had problems with. It was the money's provenance. Probably.

He has the gall to protest this on the basis that it's contrary to his confidentiality, which is very much indicative that he was rather counting on that to make sure there was no counter-argument

2 days ago: "I'm being discriminated against, I think deserve to know why".

Day Zero: "Murder, riot, treason: confidentiality breach".

Nigel ends up looking like a 2nd rate Arthur Daley to most observers, but a hero to his admirers.

Nigey Bonus: A nice new harvest of on-line gullibles to fund the next election / property deal.

Spiked (yrs, I know) is right behind Farage with a serious editorial about this sinister new front in the Woke Wars and how we should all be terrified. I don't think Farage's fans are all thick but they all are definitely angry, embittered and utterly convinced that they're society's real victims. For Farage, it's simply a nice little ego boost and probably good for his (standard Nat West?) bank account.
