Didn’t know Trump was at Turnberry as no one cares and he’s reduced to having to do an interview with Farage. Who is of so little worth he didn’t even get a job from Trump he craved.
Well worth watching as Trump is full of even more crazy shit than normal.

Boris Johnson was a far-leftist

Boris Johnson’s big problem? Not the bevy of scandals that helped call time on the beleaguered Conservative British prime minister, that’s for sure.

Instead, Trump reckons it was Johnson’s latter-day conversion to hard-left politics, which went shamefully unreported on by every single British political media outlet at the time. “They really weren’t staying Conservative,” he said of Johnson’s government. “They were … literally going far left. It never made sense.”

I’ve been wondering about GBeebies presenters, like, for example, Neil Oliver. Obviously, they’re all paid by GBeebies to be disgusting, right-wing cunts, because that’s essentially the channel’s brand.

But is this what they’re really like? Can they really hold all those repugnant views in real life? Or are they just putting it on, giving a performance simply because they’re being paid to do so?

Take Oliver -in a previous existence, he was the rugged, (quite) likeable and hunky Scots TV History presenter, on sight of whom ladies of a certain age were reportedly prone to suffer gussett-moistening. Now, he’s a reactionary, far right-wing, jackbooted, conspiracy-theory-embracing shock-jock cunt.

If he’s just being a far-right cunt on telly because he’s being paid for it, then that raises other questions :where the fuck is his conscience ?

If, like I daresay most of us on here, you look for the good in everyone and hope the arseholeism is just an act, It's always a bit disconcerting when you meet a TV bastard in real life and realise that they're every bit as loathsome off-screen.

It it were just talent vacuums like Craftywank and the fake Vicar, I'd remain convinced that it was just an act for money.

Oliver, and to some extent Starkey are enough evidence for me that it isn't just 40 pieces of silver stuff.
Both have enough previous work to secure occasional slots on proper telly.
The sort of stuff that pays the mortgage and yields further work.

I think the real indicator is that they didn't attempt to flirt with the line of what was going to let them go back and forth between "mainstream" and the Geebeebies bubble and instead went for kookeries that couldn't really be walked back or plausibly denied. Were it purely mercenary they'd have to have left an escape hatch (and they'd doubtless have seen how lying down with dogs had ended for yer Katie Hopkins et al) so at this point you'd have to assume they're in it for real.

For all of that, Starkey and Oliver occupy a place in the public mind for those not up on GBN (for any reason) as educated "that guy" that's probably separate enough a niche that they could still conceivably get booked and draw an audience were a producer similarly unawares.

GBN obviously has some serious money behind it, and I've seen it cited more and more by more mainstream and established media outlets. All supporting the hunch that it's not so much about being a news channel as about dusting its opinions with the slightest hint of legitimacy* so as to get them aired further.

As for Oliver, he can't even claim that the pee cees had driven him off the normal telly, or had censored his content. Indeed, I remember him doing a programme on king Cnut that ended with the rather pointed message that 1000 years ago he was negotiating international treaties and working on a single European currency. All delivered, by Oliver, as one in the eye for the Kipper tendency. Now, unless he was forced to deliver that at gunpoint.....

Oliver I assume had one of his programme ideas rejected by the BBC reacted very oddly.

He used to be good pals with Alice Roberts, not sure how that is nowadays.

I see there is what looks like quite an interesting programme on tonight at 9pm on BBC4 about Stonehenge, but it’s being presented by that cunt Oliver, so I’m loath to watch it - but otherwise I probably would. It’s a bit like that cunt Portillo presenting otherwise interesting railway travelogues.

Surely I can’t be alone in this? Oliver has surely poisoned his wholesome historian brand irreparably.

Guess we draw our own lines. I’m as OK watching Portillo the presenter having grumpy Tory views off-screen as I am if I saw Ray Davies or Roger Daltrey. Oliver however has some wicked far right views along with Morrissey that make them off limits for me. See also anti-vax twats like Van Morrison, Clapton and Le Tessier. Just fuck off, you’re a menace.
