I like what Barry’s saying but there’s little evidence it’s true. Especially from Corbyn’s era despite his best efforts to stick to the issues. You’re guaranteed a massive applause on QT for calling for an end to mud slinging and concentrate on policies that matter to people. That’s because people are full of shit.

Gardiner is, and always has been a tosser.

We need to crush these bastards and you won't do that with soft words and side-eye.

That's the same QT that saw its ratings spike during the expenses scandal, as audience members lined up to tell MPs how full of shit they were, that promoted populists, that embraced the trivial, and never looked back.

And keep doing it when the Tories are in opposition as political memories are very short in some heads. As they would say in Washington; a bulk order of KY jelly is needed for some prolonged ratfucking.

Short memories indeed.

I see one of our number has already spotted this chap BTL, one of my least favourite online leftists.

Rich people of course all live in drafty old houses, where they've never had insulation done. I'll take a wild guess that the few people living in baronial castles aren't going to get an offer of completely free insulation on the government- it is possible to take distributional effects into consideration. And anyway, don't the Greens support insulation?

Yeah it's actually quite extraordinary that Labour's policy of insulating 4 million homes has been all but been ignored.

This is really disappointing from Starmer on PR. Hope there’s a change of direction - voluntary, but forced by a vote if needed - once in office.

PR is the only way to stop another Tory 10-year block and shift the Overton window in the U.K. back in the direction that better reflects the majority of this country’s real politics rather than the charade of pandering to a right-wing minority because of the absurdities of FPTP.

Is the narrative to combat: ‘This loser doesn’t think he can win under the present system so I’m not voting for a loser?’
Any announcement Starmer makes is about crafty tactical advantage so little point in dissecting the content. Don’t see he has any choice under FPTP.
