Sadly Mansfield is just the kind of place where Bradley's style of politics is likely to flourish. Ironically as a town it has probably benefitted from immigration in recent years Mike Ashley's Sports Direct business is based close to Mansfield. The business was attracted to the area because lots of grants were made available after all the pits closed. With very few locals interested in working at Sports Direct, Mike Ashley brought in a lot of workers from Eastern Europe. Shirebrook where the business is based was almost a ghost town 20 years with lots of boarded up shops etc. But now it has two big new supermarkets and lots of new businesses like Polish bakeries etc springing up. Whilst many local markets have died a death markets in Shirebrook and Mansfield are really thriving.

Instead of acknowledging the fact that immigration has helped his local area Ben Bradley seems to be fermenting ill feeling towards immigrants by blaming them for the lack of affordable housing in the area and the lack of doctors and dentists rather than admitting that these things are down to lack of investment from central government. His biggest fanbase are probably people over 50s who have not worked in years but who are happy to blame immigrants for the fact that they haven't got jobs.

I’ve noticed Baltic beer bottles and cans are drunk by litter bugs in the town. Have a theory this was due to a lack of brainwashing when these careless drinkers were at school. Keep Britain Tidy was everywhere so using the bin has been etched into me for life (thanks Tufty and probably Rolf or Uncle Jimmy). There was no need for an equivalent campaign in the Soviet Union because there were no consumer goods that generated the rubbish.
