Her school doesn't actually select as much socially as I thought. It's FSM percentage is a bit higher than Brent as a whole. What she and people like Toby Young do is signal to lots of parents and kids that the school isn't for them, so that they don't apply. Some other school has to take care of them. Her school is right by Wembley Park Station, so that's very convenient for a broad catchment area. Can you do that outside London so easily? I doubt it.
Her school's gone much better than I thought it would, in terms of results, and I'm sure lots of parents like the ethos. My biggest problem with her is the implication that everywhere else in London is an educational disaster.
