Who made this "must be same structure as the Cabinet " rule? Does politics only happen when the Secretary of State announces something in Parliament? Not that it's a problem to put up eg Streeting there when there's a debate on child poverty.
I'm unclear - is this the Mail trying to wind people up, or is it another example of their ignorance and stupidity?

@Tubby Isaacs

1) The Mail is never fair.
2) Perhaps they will become Secretaries of State if Labour forms a government. 'Shadow' has two meanings in this context. One is that it is the position the party wants to reach.

Could be that meaning of shadow, but my guess is not. More likely these are for opposition, where the hope is that they can make more of an impact with the focus on themes where Starmer thinks the Government is vulnerable. Think that's worth a go. Not much reason to have eg mental health with a separate ministry in Government.

Not a huge surprise, as Bristol seems to be possibly the most Corbyn-friendly area outside Islington for some reason. Lots of disaffected Corbynites socking it to Starmer the Cop by voting Green.

It wouldn't surprise me if this is something we start seeing more of over the coming years, i.e. Labour facing a real battle with the Greens in some of the university seats. Labour need to be very savvy with who they chose as candidates for these constituencies in future.
