Would ordinary prisoner 8536954 Windsor, A, have been allowed to attend? Probably. Would he have been allowed to walk with his mother? No chance - he'd have been whisked in and out in handcuffs. It's a tricky one but the sort of people the monarchy's existence depends upon have stronger feelings about nonces than they do about the queen

It has been funny today watching the so called 'royal experts' who claimed that Meghan Markle would never set foot in the country trying to explain away how she and Harry paid a whistle stop visit to Windsor yesterday to visit the queen. Half the experts are keen to pain it as Harry and Meghan trying to build bridges with the royals the other half are convinced that it was all just an attempt by Harry and Meghan to exploit the royals for their new Netflix show. It is so laughable that journalists who have made a cushy living churning out nonsense about the royals are now accusing other people of exploiting the royals for money.

Rather than start a separate thread for the Jubilee; whilst out on run this morning, bunting, house decorations, etc, conspicuous by their absence

Ignorance is bliss.
My take away from this is "No commemorative plates sold to the O'Boogie household"

I'm not an, "Off with their heads" republican because The Monarchy is the great democratic paradox - an intrinsically undemocratic institution which has, for the moment, overwhelming public support. I'm more bemused by them, or more accurately, by the public love of them. But I recognise I'm in a minority and there are other battles which are both more pressing and more winnable.

I think I'm pretty similar:
* No personal beef against the Queen, and a modicum of respect for her commitment to het so-called constitutional role.
* Apathetic about all the pomp and circumstance, horse racing, honours etc.
* Bewildered by the types who are camping out at the Mall (already).

Seen a bit of bunting on houses and some tacky Jubilee flags in shop windows. Nothing too gauche really.

I've got it on in the background as I give the flat an overdue clean. Partially paying attention because I doubt I'll see anything like this in my lifetime again, mostly disinterested because they're taxpayer funded protectors of nonces whilst food bank use skyrockets in this country.
