Meerkat ads pulled over Ukraine war sensitivities
It’s interesting to think about really. These cuddly meerkats were the fluffy side of a Oligarch elite buying up passports here in Britain, they owned football clubs and appeared with the very wealthy and powerful, behind it it was all a sham, I watched a documentary about 10 years old now on the BBC about Putin’s rise to power, if you relate to the Meerkat image it’s a bit sickening.

I know they are seen as harmless but the message is a bit weird on reflection.

Keep seeing the “if the Oligarch’s speak out they will be killed”.

Many have died because they didn’t, because they funded Putin and his power, because they were gifted their wealth and often handed more if another Oligarch fell out of favour.

They got their British passports and other things and lived luxury away from the terrors of Russia while all the time funding that.

It’s sad if they are sought out by Russia if they now speak out and we should of course protect them if they do, but when you lie with fleas you get bitten and I can’t have any sympathy for any of these that stay silent, I saw a puff piece today about Roman A talking with the Ukrainians it amounted to the Ukrainians reaching out and Roman A “saying it’s difficult”, I wish the BBC and others would look at it and note it for what it is.

A nice modern twist on the "all the notices on this board are false" paradox. But if you're a news channel, isn't it your job to find out?

Buy hey. "Read more of Neil's views".

Considering this all came from when BBC decided to not commission another series for one of his books it’s a really rabbit hole he has gone down.

KGB News as its now being known is partially funded by Legatum owned by shady Christopher Chandler. A lot of unanswered question about his finances

Any news from Star Fleet as to where Mr Chekhov stands on the invasion?

He's also come up with this gem:
former head of nato saying same insanity, head of defence cmte in commons saying same insanity, the insanity is spreading & a lesson of last 5 yrs is it can easily spin out of control with the pricks we got in charge
Lots of people pointing out the same thing:
‘The pricks we got in charge’ says he, gently whistling to the ceiling, casually forgetting his involvement in getting them in charge in the first place.
being one of the more polite versions.

If I could work out what he was saying I might reply.

Patel saying she would have concerns sharing secrets with the opposition, considering she met secretly with foreign governments she is one to talk.

Also her boss was banned from receiving some sensitive information by May if I remember because he does diplomacy as well as a Child.

There's always been a fairly blatant side to the whole 'first safe country' thing that's really about 'none of our business - we've got a channel to hide behind'. You can bet your last pound that if something serious ever kicked off in Ireland with millions heading for the border, Holyhead and Fishguard we'd be kicking that one into touch pretty fucking quickly.

Boiler wrote: Mon Feb 28, 2022 7:27 pm For some bizarre reason, I felt the urge to listen to Russian news in English on short-wave, just as I did as a kid.

I don't think I can now: SW seems alive with Chinese stations and relays, but Russia? I think it goes by the name of Sputnik Radio now, but trying to find a SW frequency for it... clicking on an Internet link holds zero interest for me, whereas tuning across the dial (from Moscow to Cologne) just has an appeal.
The Voice of Russia (as it was then) went off short-wave in April 2014 IIRC. Later than year it was reorganized as Sputnik media.
Hot news for short wave hams
