Germany's anti-Semitism commissioner, Felix Klein, has urged authorities to stop protesters using the Nazis' yellow star forced on Jews in World War Two.

Some protesters have replaced the word "Jude" (Jew) with the phrase "ungeimpft" (unvaccinated), equating Covid restrictions with the persecution of Europe's Jewish population.

The yellow Star of David has also been seen in protests in London.

Mr Klein said he hoped German cities would follow Munich in banning it.

"If people pin so-called Jewish stars on themselves in demonstrations, thereby drawing comparisons that relativise the Holocaust, then the means provided by law should be applied against them," he told Tagesspiegel newspaper.

My response is that a conspiracy theorist is either someone stupid who thinks they're smart (most of them), or someone whom has some element of intelligence that wants to profit of those that are stupider than they are (David Icke, Alex Jones etc.) Sebastian's mother is almost certainly in the former category.

It has been reported in the Berliner Morgenpost that the German Tiny Violin Makers' Association is about to record a significant uplift in demand.

"May consider" is Reuters being Reuters and an invitation to journalists and analysts to earn their corn.

Moreover, the solution to the Ukrainian/Russian issue isn't a German problem any more than it is a Cypriot one within the EU. It is for the EU to form a resolute position and France, as chair, needs to lead that broader response.

Yes but Germany is a leading player in the EU and it has a lot more clout and influence than Cyprus. Also the problem isn't Russia/Ukraine, It is Russia refusing to accept the idea that Ukraine has the right to determine it's own future.
