It's what everybody's thinkin'.
Won't do her any god if the Conservativehome comments are anything to go by.

None but Truss and Sunak have a hope.
Isn’t this why Hunt and Sunak are trying to work together to keep her off the ballot as she is likely to win a run off.

You know the press will have Sunak at one of these parties. I think his AWOL in Devon hasn’t gone down well.

According to the ever-splendid Marina Hyde, the rumour is the next revelation will be evidence of another drinks party - only this one attended by several Secretaries of State. Which may explain a few absences - perhaps people are trying to get their stories straight and/or ascertain whether there’s any evidence of their attendance?

It does look like a few people’s desire for a couple of summer bevvies while we were all shut up indoors might be about to do for their promotion prospects…

<Kevin Keegan> I'd love it if there's a picture of the whole Britannia Unchained mob - undeniably wasted.</Kevin Keegan>

Patel's face when she replies to this is fantastic. She really does believe she's played a genius queen sacrifice when she says. "The Police are independent" and then equates supporting the police with voting for her bill.

"I'm sorry, I forgot the rest of the variation", said Priti as Yvette Cooper took her queen.

I'm not worried about Johnny Afghan. Who's going to save us from the legal immigrant in the Home Office?

A BBC investigation has raised fresh doubts about the evidence used to throw thousands of people out of the UK for allegedly cheating in an English language test.

Whistleblower testimony and official documents obtained by Newsnight reveal the Home Office has continued to try to remove people based on the claims of the international testing organisation ETS - despite knowing of serious concerns about its conduct and flaws in its data.

More than 2,500 people were deported and at least 7,200 more were forced to leave Britain after ETS accused them of cheating in an exam it set and marked. Others who remain in the UK continue to fight to clear their names after enduring years of hardship.

The crackdown was sparked by a 2014 BBC Panorama investigation that revealed two London test centres were running fraudulent exams so people could falsely obtain a pass they could use to apply for a visa.

Following those revelations, the government asked ETS to assess the scale of student cheating across more than 100 independent centres, which were contracted as test venues.

ETS gave them a massive list of alleged cheats - but despite proof that this included some innocent people who had been wrongly accused, the Home Office continues to stand by ETS's evidence.

Labour MP Stephen Timms said: "Clearly, ETS was a discredited witness and yet the Home Office relied on them totally."

The BBC has also uncovered further evidence - much of which has been known to the department for several years - which raises additional questions about why ETS has been trusted to investigate what went on...

A degree of upset that their human shield has gone?

The BBC's political editor has previously reported tensions between the home secretary and Downing Street over Dame Cressida's leadership of the Met Police.

Ms Patel and No 10 had discussed whether or not to try to find a new commissioner over concerns about the force's handling of the Sarah Everard case.

The home secretary did consider a recruitment process but was "overruled" by Downing Street, two sources familiar with the discussions told our political editor.

So, as I'm hearing it, Khan asked for Dick's plans to reform the Met. Dick produced a half-arsed draft, and Khan told her to go away and do it properly. She then quit.

Seems to be a common thread over the last few years. Excuse after excuse, then a hastily cobbled together effort at the last minute, and failing that (e.g. Brexit impact forecasts), the dog ate it.

I've said before that it feels like this lot never got past their schooldays, but I never realised it was this bad.
