I wonder if rather than pro or anti increased regulation, it's more a case of one loud faction and everyone else saying nothing, because they're waiting to see which way the wind blows, and don't want anything attributed to them that they might later regret.

But Daily Mail...
Daily Mail: Two million readers, if you include the website.
That's a tiny minority.
But they set the news agenda...

Just checking. Letting the whole current situation with *gestures vaguely at everything* get on top of you so much that you've just spent the last 30 minutes sobbing all over the place is fine, isn't it?

Also, Steven Swinford from The Times is tweeting that no decision will be made today.

If the Swinford tweet is true, that is just astonishing. People need to know what is happening one way or another. It is coming up to 100 hours before Christmas Day. That's all. Keeping people uncertain is just downright cruel.

Sometimes, an old fashioned word has more impact than a litany of profanity, so I will just say that Johnson and his lickspittle cabal of toads are, along with the CRG, just downright wicked and evil.

Saying they're evil is, I think, letting them off the hook a little. I guess I've always despised the Tories, dating back to when Thatcher was at the height of her tinpot malevolence, but really the absolute confirmation that I've been right to do so for all this time came not from the Bedroom Tax or “austerity”, though that was close, but from Brexit - knowingly inflicting hardship and worse on hundreds of thousands of decent people via a massive con trick/appeal to naked racism and xenophobia. for the sake of a twisted and hate-filled ideology, and in Johnson's case, a nifty leg-up to his ego-driven career (and nothing else).

It is understandable. Hell, I've been brought to it a few times this year, especially during the summer months - I got alternately either suicidal or incredibly angry and aggressive* but I would say that anyone with a soul, a heart, compassion for their fellow human beings and/or a sense of justice would be driven to this.

The thing that REALLY angers me is that this should NOT be happening in a supposedly civilised country: worse still, that there are people who see *absolutely nothing wrong* in reducing society to this level and, FFS, even support it.

Kev - you are better then these people. Hold your head high and tell yourself that you will prevail over the shits trying to destroy this country in their hollow pursuit of fortune.

*(this got me banned from a forum for picking fights with mods and members but that's minor. I came close to starting several fights IRL and believe me, that's waaaaay out of character.)

I note that the maps on the Government website for cases in the UK at https://coronavirus.data.gov.uk/details ... -map/cases are to be tweaked to indicate where cases are over 1600/100k.

In the last seven days there has been a 61% increase in people testing positive - but the Psychopaths of Westminster are saying "Carry On Christmas!".

Incidentally, has anyone else noticed the "get boosted now" postmarks on their post recently?

How many weeks to Christmas?

Christmas curbs could be brought in within days, says Sajid Javid

Sajid Javid has made clear that fresh Covid restrictions could be imposed before Christmas to slow the spread of the Omicron variant, with ministers set to make a decision in days...

https://amp.theguardian.com/politics/20 ... ajid-javid

Actually, the Saj comes across as frighteningly sane in that article. I suppose Johnson will blame him then.

My pleasure. You're a good man, you deserve better.

Saying that 100 out of 361 is a *majority* of her fellow travellers doesn't mark her out as particularly bright, does it...?

I've seen torches with flat batteries that are brighter.
