As James O’Brien was pointing out today, if you take the case of Zac Goldsmith as an example, the notion of him receiving summary justice at the hands of his electorate is meaningless. No sooner was he handed his sandwiches wrapped in a road map by his voters, than he was handed a cosy peerage by his chum Johnson and was right back in parliament - which of course was later reciprocated by Goldsmith letting his luxury Spanish villa to Johnson and Princess Nut Nuts completely gratis.

it all stinks to fuck.

I heard that. Raab kept complaining that Nick Robinson wouldn't let him speak, to which Robinson told him how many minutes of airtime he'd been speaking for. More evidence of BBC bias for Mad Nad to use to justify flogging the Beeb to Murdoch.

You know, given Raab's multiple demonstrations of sheer, fuckwitted idiotic incompetence, I'm beginning to think that Nadine Dorries might not be the thickest member of the cabinet after all.

In all the media attention on Johnson we seem to be forgetting just how nasty a little gauleiter Raab is.

Destroy the Human Rights Act to pursue culture wars? That is truly scary.

Raab delivers these ‘common sense’ proposals in the manner of a timid bank clerk rearranging some desks. Didn’t George Orwell have a similar description of what the face of English fascism would look like?
I’d find it hard to believe Raab has ever suffered from imposter syndrome. If Rees-Mogg’s smug face has already been taken for a free punch, Raab goes to the top of the list.

Did you see the fucker on Sky News earlier ?

Fuck's sake, he can't even do brazen . If anything was guaranteed to multiply exponentially the already humungous public rage that his government are taking us all for fools, it was a performance like this from Raab,

It's simply jaw-dropping the way that Raab's rank stupidity can be seen from fucking space.

People have pointed out that he can't even lie convincingly - it goes from a work meeting to an impromptu after work drink within a few moments.

It seems to be a common public school trait - stonewall relentlessly, deny everything no matter how ridiculous, then the moment your questioner shows the slightest doubt or chink in their armour, seize upon it and hammer them (figuratively - I'm not doing a Piers Corbyn here) to death with it.

For a good example, remember the pig cull due to a shortage of slaughtermen? Johnson was doing an interview explaining/defending it, and he started banging on about whether or not the interviewer had ever eaten a bacon sandwich. The point he was making being, how could you pretend to care about animal welfare when you eat meat, or something like that, I suppose. Anyway, the interviewer said that yes, they did eat meat, at which point the lard tub was crowing like crazy, as he'd just "won".

John Crace on Raab:

https://www.theguardian.com/politics/20 ... -interview

And what was Carrie doing there? “Easy,” said Raab. The prime minister’s wife often turned up to cabinet and had a few helpful suggestions to make about how to hold the best parties that weren’t parties. Boris was very inclusive that way. She had also come down from the upstairs flat to see if anyone wanted to use Wilf’s paddling pool and it was a very warm evening. And while she had everyone’s attention, did anyone know of anyone other than Lord Goldsmith who would pay her £100k a year for doing next to nothing? She and Boris were feeling a bit broke.

Still, at least Raab had the rest of the morning off to watch Lord Frost explain why he had resigned from the cabinet when he still thought Boris was a superb prime minister. Just one that was making all the wrong decisions. Apparently the Northern Ireland protocol was a bit trickier than everyone had expected. Whoever would have guessed? But hey, the whole country could have a laugh at Liz Truss trying to negotiate Brexit.

Its possible Raab and the circles he mixes in have no cultural life so no understanding of why people enjoy opera (or any other art form) or who they are. I find myself listening to Radio 3 more frequently and its listeners who contribute seemed to be lovely interesting people. Everything Raab isn’t.
