I appreciate that sometimes being as bloody awkward as possible is the only way to get noticed, but given the present and imminent fuel woes and ballooning costs, now might be an excellent time to have a very visible campaign on what the difference would be bills-wise.

If the fuel shortage can sell electric cars, the gas price hikes can sell insulation.

Except a good percentage of electricity to charge these cars will come from gas-powered power stations and that cost will no doubt get passed on to the consumer. (As I type this, gas is providing 45% of the UK's power needs according to https://www.gridwatch.templar.co.uk/ )

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for non-ICE motor vehicles - I'm planning on getting one when I retire (most likely a Renault ZOE).

I've never got into the minds of people who rail against ditching incandescent lightbulbs (especially now we have LEDs) and other household appliances designed to be more efficient and use less electricity - surely not having your wallet gouged quarterly is a good thing?

They're back and the DM commentariat are almost unanimous in its call for these admittedly foolish, misguided people to be be maimed, beaten or killed. Some of the comments on there are the most extreme I've ever read on Mail Online - several I've seen calling taking the opportunity to call for the execution of ALL minorities, for example. I know it's all about clicks but the DM appears to allow pretty much anything to be posted on its website these days and I find it deeply disturbing and depressing.

I've heard far stupider grifts uttered on Faux News but somehow the American accents on there always keep it performative to my ears, this hits too close to being accosted by bullish, boorish gammons down the pub and I weep for the level of discourse in this country.

To soften the blow, watch again and think; ‘Mel Smith does Michael Gove.’

The Sun’s war on green wokery isn’t going well if this dim bulb is worth an article
A SINGLE mum has told of her anger over solar panels on her council house - and being told she HAD to accept them or go back on the waiting list.

Brittany Haughton, 26, says she was forced to accept the three-bed property after being stuck on the waiting list for two years.

The mum-of-two thinks the renewable energy source doesn't work - claiming that they instead cost her hundreds of pounds each year instead of lessening her bills.

But she is locked into a 25-year long contract with the Community Energy Scheme (CES) and has been told they must stay put.

Brittany explained she has now turned off the solar panels that sit on her roof in protest as she "doesn't see the point" in them being switched on. https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/17623183/ ... hate-them/

Why is my electric bill so high with solar panels?

Possible reasons are:

The system was incorrectly sized in the first place.
You are using more electricicity.
The sun’s energy has been low, so power output is low.
Perhaps the system isn’t working properly – get it checked by the installer.
