Indeed. Jesus, Mary, and Joseph and the wee donkey.

Didn't see this last night, but Hollinrake is a fucking disgrace. As for Jenrick : Scrappy-Doo Farageism.

Or, should I say, that there is a sector of the electorate for whom laws, constraints and regulations simply do not exist, because they know better - those who want Farage as PM with only 5 MPs, for example, or Labour MPs to be prosecuted for treason and then hanged. They are clearly stupid beyond belief to people such as you and I, but they think they have a great insight which countermands laws and normal behaviour. Truly Dunning Kruger.

He'll have been told that the message to push is "But what I want to know is why...", and nothing's going to derail him. He knows there's no actual debate to be had, because his actual wish (for the HS or PM to admit that hey, maybe those rioters had a point after all, and that from now on, anyone from certain demographics will be subjected to greater scrutiny, just to keep them on their toes) is daft and shit, but if he can just repeat his talking point enough times, he'll get a pat on the back from the incoming boss.

Reminds me of an online argument I was once in with some wannabe Tory councillor who was doing the whole "mobile phones for jobseekers" routine. Why have they got something that hardworking pensioners don't and so on. I, and others, pointed out why a jobseeker might need a smartphone, and broke down the cost of running one, and the increased cost of the alternatives, and they slowly conceded that these were all valid points, then launched into "But what I don't understand is why they have to have them..." and as I recall we all just gave up.

FTFY, even though Jenprick would be unlikely to garner appreciably more votes than her if he faced a GE

I'm quite relaxed about the Tory leadership contest and don't see either of them as a threat as I'm confident that neither candidate could lay a glove on Starmer before they are inevitably replaced prior to the next election.
I think Jenrick will probably defect to Reform shortly after he loses on Saturday.

That's pitiful. Also, what's she saying about Covid contracts? Were some of them improper or not?

Starting to wonder if Cleverly and his supporters deliberately flunked it for now to avoid this poisoned chalice.
Better Jenrick loses as he's more likely than Kemi to slime up to Farage for an electoral deal. Badenoch getting into a knife fight with Farage will keep her distracted and its not as if she's going attract many old Powelite racist codgers from Reform.
I think LOTO is a good gig for anyone, and Cleverly is 55, so might not get too many more chances. Think the explanation that Jenrick's supporters tried to stick it to Kemiis a more likely explanation than Cleverly throwing the game.

I'm thinking that from a Tory point of view, Badenoch as leader would be catastrophic, but a Jenrick leadership would be even worse. Either choice would be a massive mistake, perhaps not of Liz Truss proportions, but certainly of Ian Duncan Smith proportions. Jimmy Dimly (though still a shitty choice) would have been immeasurably the better option. Perhaps he'll be the Michael Howard of these times.

It is highly possible that the next Tory PM is not yet in the commons.
I'm hoping they're not yet in the womb.
