His QT performance last night may have notched the needle down a little further - you’d have to be monumentally determined to not join the dots and see that when he was talking about ‘financial penalties’ for teenagers not doing national service, what he was actually doing was signalling that the ‘right’ sort of people had nothing to fear. If you can pay the fine, you need not do the time, and it’ll only be the plebs being sent off to be shot at or forced to clean grandma’s care home for free.

I was happy with a Labour win, but the longer this campaign goes on the more I’m hoping for an absolute wipe-out and in particular for this nasty little twat to lose his seat.

Seems to be winning his own seat but not a good sign that he's having to campaign there.

Sunak is now claiming that the party is carrying out its own internal inquiry into the betting scandal. I'm not sure how that is going to work given that the party doesn't have any access to the data needed to carry out a proper investigation.

He'll send a group email out. Nobody goes home till everybody's owned up. That sort of thing.

Or maybe Gareth Keenan Investigates!

Maybe get Jeremy Kyle to hook them up to a lie detector.

Kevin Hollinrake on LBC was asked by Andrew Marr why Sunak can't just call in the two candidates and ask them if they did it, and suspend them if they say yes.

Well indeed.

Hang on, I forgot Craig Williams admitted it.

The other glaring problem with an internal inquiry is that some of the people conducting the inquiry could have actually placed bets.

It's very clearly a placeholder to avoid any further comment on the issue.

And he's finally withdrawn support. They're still listed as Conservative candidates though, and maybe Craig Williams will win, as Neale Hanvey did in 2019 after the SNP withdrew support. But this won't help.

and if he does win, the Con's will clutch at any straw they can, and expect him to continue with the Tory whip

Rumours abound that Labour are closing in, but that the strength of the Plaid and Lib Dem core votes is preventing the Labour candidate from getting over the line. It could be that Reform will swing it.

I'd be surprised if Reform won. It had a lower than average UKIP vote in 2015. I'm surprised at how high the Lib Dem still is.

Yeah, sorry. I meant that Reform robbing Tory votes might swing it enough to Labour.

Ah right.

I thought that Plaid voters might have been more inclined to go tactically Labour because of the Assembly cooperation (I know lots do already in General Elections). But I guess Gething has fucked that.

Four arrested after protester takes a dump in Rishi Sunak’s back garden

https://metro.co.uk/2024/06/25/proteste ... -21102658/
Four men have been arrested after on suspicion of aggravated trespassing after breaking into Rishi Sunak’s £2,000,000 mansion and taking a dump in his garden.

An activist wearing a vest which read ‘eat s***’ Rishi’ defecated in the lake at Rishi Sunak’s constituency home in Kirby Sigston, North Yorkshire, and uploaded the footage to social media.
Of course a responsible channel like ours will condemn such prankery.
It might have led to somebody getting frightened or injured.

But, you'd need a heart of stone ...

In the lake ?

Surely on the front doorstep would have made the point better ?

My line would be, that they did it in the lake to highlight how the Tories have fucked on the environment

Maybe. But the thing about dropping a fresh turd in a lake is that it’d hardly get noticed, unless the protester deliberately had a humungous egg, cabbage, prawn and bean vindaloo the night before in order to be able to produce a turd of sufficient magnitude. Otherwise, you could crap in the lake, but you’d need to tell people what you’d done, or it’d get missed. And if you need to that, you might as well just lie about crapping in the lake instead of actually having to do it.
