A bloke who’s just turned 79! Forward thinking or what; and shouldn’t he be spending more time with the grandchildren

This is taxpayers’ money and surely now it is time to review, for example, the big spenders, like the NHS and welfare
So spake Richard Drax, the MP for South Dorset. He's got Weymouth in his constituency. He'll doubtless be telling the very many retired folk that he thinks their pensions and hospitals ought to be cut.

Oddly enough, it matches my view of him too.

I’m surprised they didn’t shortlist John Logie Baird.

They also said Erdington was on a knife edge when the polls closed.

Something like 40% of seats up are in London, where they don't have much further to fall.

Doubt Grade expected this plum appointment when he took a p/t retirement job as a clueless Tory peer. Will he be investigating wokeness in Doctor Who?
For all his faults, he’s put many smiles on people’s faces at the end of the pier.

It comes as little surprise that someone, that full of shit, should be fretting about lavatories.

The Education Secretary Nadhim Zahawi has been touring the TV newsrooms today promoting his latest education reforms. At a time when teachers are quitting the profession in droves Zahawi thinks that increasing the length of the school day and setting unrealistic targets is the answer. He was also bullshitting claiming that there was clear evidence that academy trust had performed better during the pandemic than LEA schools but where is this evidence? There have been very few OFSTED inspections in the last two years and no external exam results. The only evidence that does exist is the teacher assessed grades that have been used for the last two years. These are hardly reliable figures to base government reforms on.

It's just occurred to me that increasing the length of the school day has nothing to do with education. It's all about childcare for Hard Working Families ™. With the kids in school for longer people will be able to put in more hours at their minimum wage jobs, increasing their pay slightly, and giving the government a reason to cut their in-work benefits.

Good for them. Really not an easy thing to do, especially considering the inevitable reaction there will be from a sizable proportion of the grass roots.

I see that Oliver Dowden's hoping that Wallis has a short memory. Example in the first reply:

There's a lot to unpack there, and Wallis is obviously in a very fucked up place. That said, it's perfectly possible to sympathise with someone and still consider them a corrupt, soulless idiot.

Agreed.

The sugar daddy story's definitely being brought up a lot, and it's not the only controversy he was involved in, even before the traffic accident.
