A story in Private Eye this mothh alleged that Kwarteng has been employed by Odey Asset Management Limited(a hedge fund racket run by serial sterling shorter and Tory donor, Crispin Odey, receiving £20k per month as a “political consultant” since being elected to parliament in 2010, and remains, still, so employed, even though he is now Chancellor of the Exchequer.

This surely, cannot be correct? The rules on other employment or interests while holding ministerial office are clearly defined (it basically just ain’t allowed), well understood, and generally, fairly rigidly observed, I think even by the posse of shysters that is this Tory cabinet. If it were true that Kwarteng really were in exceptional breach of these rules, it would constitute a massive conflict of interest, and should be a huge story. So why isn’t it (yet) ?

Hislop knows the law on libel backwards and, you have to surmise, would not risk putting the Eye at risk by knowingly printing a libel. So it must be accurate. If it were not, then surely Kwarteng would have set his lawyers on the Eye by now. But he hasn’t, so it must be true.

So, why the fuck isn’t this HEOWDGE??

What’s going on?

I had a look on the Members Register of interest and there was a mention of Kwarteng working for Odey, but it was £20k a year (£10K bi-annually) and only one £10K payment was actually registered upto the latter half of 2011. The rest is Kwasi mainly getting free trips to the Gulf courtesy of the Bahrainians and some group based out of Tufton St. I'm not sure, but don't MP's have to register EVERY payment they receive as income and who has paid it? I'm think you ave to, because my MP Peter Bonehead liked to do surveys from yougov at £50+ a pop and regularly declared them.

There's the Mail's narrative.....all The BoE's fault
BANK OF ENGLAND CHAOS

Liz Truss vows she WON'T cut public spending despite '£60bn black hole' in finances, defends mini-Budget after market chaos, and flip-flops on banning no-fault evictions during bruising PMQs
In tetchy Commons clashes with Keir Starmer, Liz Truss shrugged off warnings of a £60billion black hole in the public finances amid soaring inflation, tax cuts and the markets meltdown. She also insisted that the package unveiled by Kwasi Kwarteng last month - widely blamed for spooking traders - would mean 'higher growth and lower inflation'. And Ms Truss stated that plans to ban no-fault evictions will go ahead, despite suggestions only yesterday that the manifesto pledge would be ditched.

Thin gruel I know, but I suppose we should be glad it hasn't gone to one of the true headbangers. I thought we were about to be treated to the sight of Chancellor Redwood blathering away at the despatch box.

Hunt’s unlikely to have any heartfelt views about the Brexit debate beyond political maneuvering just like Johnson, Truss and Gove. But the headbangers ain’t happy so that’s a good start for Hunt

Have you noticed that Kwarteng has that weird, very slow, walk? I noticed it when he walked on stage at the Tory conference, and again when he was walking along Downing Street. It’s kind of stiff and languid at the same time.

I can’t be the only one baffled that Truss stood there at that skip fire of a press conference today praising Kwarteng to the heavens, and simultaneously failing to explain the reason why she had sacked him for doing precisely what she wanted him to do.
