She made a mistake, realised it, then was advised to "no comment" it when some police officer picked up on it. The conviction, or sanction, or whatever you want to call it, was spent.
So, first of all, somebody picks her up on a detail in what must be an absolute first - the police following up a lead in a mugging case. Then they sit on this nugget of information for years, not releasing it when it might prevent her becoming an MP, but waiting for...now.
What's happened in recent weeks? Well, we've learned that one of the ReFuck MPs was considerably more brutal to his then-girlfriend than he made out. We also have a leader of the opposition who states that she has committed a cyber-crime offence against another MP.
This might be "all as bad as each other" stuff, and it might be a shot across the bows of the government - "we've got all the dirt, now behave yourselves". Might be both. Something stinks here, and the speed with which it's made the front pages of both the Mail and Times is to be noted too.
