Archaic hangover from a discredited system and anyone decent will reject such fripperies and why didn't Jeremy get one?

The glorious thing about this news is that it triggers both sets of extremist madmen.

It’s the Order of the Garter which is the personal choice of the Monarch. I can’t think he’d have got it if it was down to No 10.

Go and have a look at the highest-rated comments on the Mail's story. Hard to tell who's writing them.

The Fail is moved to "Fury". Of course, they trawled through Twitter to find comments from Galloway and all the usual suspects

'What a disgusting, shameful decision': Fury as Tony Blair is given a knighthood with Britons branding him a 'war criminal' and demanding honours system is scrapped

I haven't ventured BTL and have no intention of doing so.

Well, here's a bit BTL from the article covering other recipients. The highest-rated comments, in fact.

We know that the government didn't nominate Sir Tone (the Garter is the royal prerogative) but they did nominate and award this bastard.

https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/202 ... ar-honours

"A billionaire hedge fund founder who has given nearly £1.5m to the Conservatives has been knighted in the new year honours list, prompting accusations that Boris Johnson has “the wrong priorities”.

David Winton Harding, who has been funding the Tories since 2006, was given the award for services to philanthropy."

He has given lots to proper good causes, but surely this has the utterly wrong optics - Johnson no longer cares, does he?

In other news, Emanuel Macron has awarded Jesse Jackson the Legion d'Honneur.

Given that Blair's particular nomination is by Royal prerogative, I see no condemnation of the Queen for doing this?

My MP is now Sir Jerry Wiggin. Previous MP for this seat defected to Labour, so there is that.

So in 1999 she turned down an honour from Tony Blair because of the Iraq war.

Which was in 2003...

These people are pathetic beyond measure.
