There has been an explosion in a car at Liverpool Women's Hospital. One dead, one injured.

The car was a taxi and the explosion occurred at 11am, so the police are treating it as a potential terrorist attack, though by whom and for what purpose isn't publicly known.

Now hearing that the driver of the taxi was not the bomber, but the passenger, who had a bomb on him and was trying to get into the hospital. Seems the taxi driver locked him in the car. This is apparently the story circulating around the city’s cab drivers.

No idea where the other two arrested suspects fit in.

Any link with innocent people who just so happen to import weapons from hither and thither to continue their struggle against non-existent viruses?

Sounds like an Al-Queada type nutjob. Can’t see Loyalist paramilitaries setting bombs off at hospitals on Remembrance Sunday.

In America (and I know this isn't America) it's a thing that anti-abortionists do.

But it's unwise to speculate about individual instances.
Let's not go Hopkins / gBeebies, but wait for a reliable source, after evidence has been gathered.

The BBC is saying this is now officially a terrorist incident.

I'm surprised the explosion hasn't been edited out

Did cross my mind considering what kind of hospital it was. Possibly misogynistic in tone as well but that won’t get mentioned even if we do find the proper motive.

Already done.
The Daily Mail wrote:EXCLUSIVE: A suicide bomber who died inside a taxi as it blew up outside a hospital in Liverpool on Remembrance Sunday was a Syrian asylum seeker who converted to Christianity and was once arrested for carrying a knife, MailOnline can reveal. Enzo Almeni, 32, (left and centre) is believed to have suffered from mental health problems and according to friends was sectioned in around 2014 after being caught for brandishing a knife in central Liverpool. MailOnline understands he arrived in the UK shortly before that incident, and had been in Liverpool for most of his time in the country, where he was being supported by Christian volunteers from a network of churches who help asylum seekers. Almeni's birth name is Emad Jamil Al-Swealmeen and is believed to have spent a large part of his life in Iraq, where his mother came from. The keen motor racing fan changed his first name to Enzo in honour of the Ferrari founder Enzo Ferrari and to sound less Muslim and appear more Western, in the hope that it would help his asylum application.

Oh, man. Are we now going to get a speculation competition on social media between those hoping he was a fundamentalist Christian and those hoping he was a fundamentalist Muslim?

The Mail's just happy on behalf of its readership that he was a foirrin, I guess.

Intriguingly this might make the home office look utterly inept, Patel will probably overreact and potentially deport some people who are legally here.

Considering I don’t have a lot of time for those who look to blow up others I really hope it does shine how shit her and her department is. Thankfully no one innocent lost their lives.

Judging by today's papers she's sticking to her ranting old racist in the pub routine. Everyone else's fault, if only someone could do something about it.

Not that I want to credit her with too much intelligence, but I suspect that she knows her core audience very well. More than they want the migration "problem" dealt with, they want something to moan about, and someone to demonise.

I see we're getting (so far unfounded) allegations of 'not a proper Christian' and false conversions.

Compare and contrast with their disdain for claims from the Muslim community that jihadists are 'not real Muslims'.

As said, like they'd know the difference. "Proper Christianity" apparently being defined by the Knights Templar at the sack of Antioch, and the KKK.

It's a puzzling one.

From a mailite perspective, the bomber ticks all the boxes, but not necessarily in the right order.

(With apologies to Morecambe and Preview).

I'm wondering if ultimately he'll turn out to have been a lone, very disturbed individual with mental health issues and no real motive.
It's only a matter of time before the likes of Patel then play the "they're all mad, of course they are, they've been traumatised, that's exactly why we should keep 'em out" card.
