Talking of conspiracies it seems according to the Algerian Olympic Commitee it's the fault of those Jews, I mean Zionists.

Speaking before the bout, which guaranteed that she would win at least a bronze medal, Yassine Arab, the director of the Algerian Olympic and Sports Committees, told the Syndney Morning Herald Khelif had been attacked by shadowy forces.

“The Zionist lobby, they want to break the mind of Imane. But now Imane is very strong. They don’t want that a Muslim girl or Arabic girl goes higher in the level of the rank of female boxing,” he said.

“We are all here for Imane. You can see all the support of everybody from the world. All the international press associations, they support Imane.”

Ah, you got me! Or at least you would have, if I hadn’t known full well it wasn’t with the IBA. You’ll have to forgive me on that bit of misdirection, but I had my reasons.

Khelif appealing but having to withdraw for financial reasons was mentioned in that Atlantic article you like so much. But when you brought to up you just said she “chose not to appeal”. Interesting choice of words - firstly that makes it sound like she didn’t bother at all when - assuming you read your own reference - you knew she did, and secondly like it was a choice to avoid scrutiny, even though again, if you’d read the reference you supplied, you knew the reason was financial.

So I was interested to see if you’d correct me. Which you didn’t do. You just said who she would have appealed to. You didn’t mention that she actually *did*, or why she didn’t go through with it. So either you didn’t know and didn’t read your own stuff, or you did know and you misrepresented it. Neither of which cover you in glory.

Anyway, good luck with that. I was fed up enough of discussing things round in circles and regret being drawn back in, but this is more than reason enough to call it a day.

I did know that actually. I'll quote what you wrote
Yes, because famously when corrupt organisations arbitrarily disqualify you mid-contest for reasons they are neither clear nor consistent about but are highly likely to be politically motivated in favour of a dictator who likes arranging for officials he doesn’t like to fall out of the window, they’re bound to give you a wholly fair hearing.
You clearly seemed to be stating that she was appealing to the IBA not the court, so perhaps you could acknowledge that and stop being a smug git.

I was correcting you because again you implied it she had to appeal to the IBA. Also stop being a smug git.

Fine by me it's means I don't have to waste my time arguing with a smug git.

Also
I didn't know I was taking part in a test would have been nice to have told me also

Yeah, actually sorry about all that. I’ve not been in a good mood all last week for some reason but it’s no excuse for being a twat and doing the exact sort of overheating of a topic that just entrenches people further to one side or another and stops anyone listening. So, apologies.

The only thing more I’m going to say is, when you said you phrased something poorly, bear in mind the person who you assumed was being full-on TRA on Twitter might also have phrased something poorly. A bit more benefit of the doubt all round can only be a good thing.

Appreciated, look things got heated between us and we should draw a line under all this. I've been a bit of a sod over this myself.

If you were to suggest that Mia Farrow or Faye Dunaway, or Diane Keaton or Sylvester Stallone owed undying loyalty to Roman Polanski or to Woody Allen because their first big roles were in films by them; you'd be laughed out of town.

"Ah but they were happy to take the money!"

1. It wasn't her money.
2. She wasn't widely known to be a twat at that time.
