Recent RAF recruiting balls-up notwithstanding, Positive Discrimination for recruiting in the Public Sector was recognised as racist and chucked in the bin before the Tories came to power. i.e. over thirteen years ago.

But why give the truth a fair go when the voices in your head provide a 'better' reality?

On the day that Rishi Sunak claimed that racism was no longer a big issue in this country Toby Young tweeted Sharon White implying that she only got the job because of her race. A number of people who responded claimed that Sharon had been an outstanding boss when she was in the Civil Servants. John Lewis didn't fail because of the appointment of Sharon White. Sharon White was appointed to be the boss of John Lewis because the business was already in trouble and she was seen as a person with the skills to turn things around.

Reading the trade bible Retail Week is like the football pages, there’s a limited amount of top flight managers going around, they balls up on one team and then turn up on another and do alright.
To be fair, Toby has personal experience of "Only getting that job because ...".

I've read a few pieces today ( why can't I not just look at pictures of cats on the internet instead) suggesting that there's a new voting block in town - the anti Tory/anti populist elite made up of nurses, civil servants, teachers etc. (you know, all those enemies of the people types) . Apparently they're well organised, hugely committed and determined to vote tactically to deny the natural party of government.

As well as shoppers who aren’t seeing lower price rises as ‘tax cuts’ and want to know where the £350m per week for the NHS is gone. Not consciously perhaps but media pundits are missing the point by parroting that ‘Brexit is no longer a salient issue in Leave voting seats.’ It’s still THE issue that bought us to where we are.
And for the hard core voters to still see dark skinned people walking the high street in Tamworth, of course Britain First is the logical choice for their version of ‘get Brexit done.’
First rule of Brexit fight club is.. And the true believers of Reform are right that Starmer will begin to unravel it in office without even needing to mention the B word.

Richard Tice, unpleasant leader of the Reform Party, has apparently ruled out any sort of deal with the Tories for the coming election in which Reform would not stand candidates in some seats in order, in theory, to afford the Tories a clear run. It seems 30p Lee is worried that Tice's crew could "let Labour in".

Tice, however, reasons thus :
He said: 'To anyone who says that Reform will just be letting in Labour, I say there's no difference between the two of them. The Tories and Labour are two forms of socialism: high tax, high regulation, low growth and pro net zero. It's all a catastrophe for the country.'
Stop laughing at the back, there.

But there's an interesting point here. Right-wing nutjob Tice says that Labour and the Tories are just the same. And so does Owen Jones and sundry disgruntled Trots..

All you can say is by cracky, Keir Starmer must be doing something right.
