It's not a popularity contest. It's about who has had the biggest impact on World events. Unsurprisingly, controversial national leaders tend to score quite highly.

This really is common knowledge.

Just a mediocre excuse for humanity then.

The usual suspects have now focussed on the real enemy- David Lammy.

I'm trying to follow the logic- if you say that Stop The War are helping Putin, that's "incitement". But if you say Lammy and Starmer are imperialist warmongers for supporting Ukraine v Putin, that's not incitement.

Meanwhile one of the Conservative Home Regulars
The next stage is that Mr Putin is going to bring up the heavy artillery and pound the city of Kiev to pulp. Will Boris and Joe stand by and pray for these people who are going to be slaughtered?
We need to send in the SAS and Marines into Russia and find and Kill this man now. No ifs or buts. He must be executed immediately, and be re0laced by a democratically elected person.

The Russian people cannot change him. If they protest, they will be killed. They are afraid of him. The only persons who can do something are countries outside of Russia and Ukraine. If Boris Johnson does not have the stomach for the fight, then he must resign.
Same guy
Are we going to stand by and watch Russia kill Ukranians' and do nothing to help them?
This is moral cowardice. Mr Johnson must intervene now. We have to destroy the Kremlin's ability to wage war on people who cannot defend themselves. If that means putting British soldiers into Ukraine, then we must do so.

Maybe it is time to start making Putin feel the heat of war, by bombing Moscow. Take it or leave it. This is a world war. We must stop Putin now. The only thing that he understands is power. We should destroy all the bridges in Moscow and blow up Putin's palace.

USA must bomb all Russian military bases now. Blow them to rubble now. I can hear many British people saying that we will place London and the UK at risk. The truth is that London and the UK are already at risk. We need a Hiroshima moment now, to keep Putin and Xi in check. If we do not have the stomach to do this, then we will face a long war, with much suffering.
Moving on, there's a general consensus that Biden has caused this by (somethign somethign someting).

We brought it on ourselves by net zero, lockdown, furlough and wokery.

Everything will be OK if we keep the "Trannies" (Their words) out of the toilets and start fracking.

One poster summarises far better than I ever could:
Con home can be a window in to another world sometimes. The articles are sound but there are some absolute mentalists in the comments.

The headlines in the papers are as apocalyptic as I thought they would be. Remember these are the same publications that were screaming at the scientific community for being scaremongers over Covid.

Whilst the announcement yesterday is a trifle unsettling, we need to look at it rationally. Firstly, Putin is egocentric, and is obsessed with his place in history. He won't want to go down in history as the man who destroyed Russia, and who brought about global armageddon. He knows the consequences if he were to attack NATO.

Secondly, he wants the Ukrainian land. That land is no good to him if it's riddled with radiation.

Thirdly, I get the impression China would like to be the strongest world economy. It's a bit difficult to conduct international trade if a lot of overseas is a radioactive wasteland. That's why I think it won't be long until they demand cooler heads.

Finally, even if he did order a launch, I think the generals would step in at that point. I suspect it's sabre rattling and nothing more, designed to spook us.

I hope.

A piece on the BBC website suggests were he to "press the button", it'd be a detonation over the North Sea somewhere between Britain and Denmark.

As the piece says: don't say "he'd never do that".

What did I predict last week?

Fuel prices have hit record highs in the UK as Russia's invasion of Ukraine continues to affect global oil prices.

The RAC said the average price of petrol jumped to £1.51 a litre on Sunday, while diesel increased to £1.55.

The price of both fuels has jumped since Thursday, when Russia began its assault on Ukraine.

RAC fuel spokesman Simon Williams said despite oil prices calming, prices at the pump will continue to rise.
