Spike's test came back positive, so she's coughing and croaking at home for ten days.

Mrs A and I still negative - yet we've been in very close contact with 4 cases since Christmas. Those vaccines must work or something, eh?

I don't want to worry anyone, but...

While the world is grappling with the highly infectious Omicron, strain of Covid, scientists in France have identified a potentially worrying new variant, which has 46 mutations.

Named IHU, the new B.1.640.2 variant has so far infected 12 people living in southeastern France. The first case was linked to a person with a travel history to Cameroon, western Africa, said researchers in a paper published on medRxiv...

Johnson says the NHS is on a 'war footing'. A 'territorial army' of returners. Lots of military imagery. Calling on retired teachers to go back and get infected.

Fucking delusional. I was talking to a doctor today and he is on his knees.

They can't help themselves, can they?

Posting it here rather than in the fucknuggets thread as there's a lack of evidence to suggest wherever she was actually vaccinated or not (though I think I might be able to guess), but still...

EDIT: apparently she was not vaccinated, according to her now widowed husband whom is now fighting off accusations that Ms. Ernby was killed by a COVID-19 vaccine (third TW post)...

So can anyone summarise the press conference? My twitter feed is saying that it basically amounted to."you're on your own".

In which case the social contract is quite seriously broken.

I caught the but where he was going on about how 'we' had been working hard to stop the spread of Covid which is quite funny given that he appears to have done sweet FA for two weeks other than getting a hair cut. He also went on to suggest that doctors and other health workers who have been working flat out for the last 18 months should cancel their leave to cover for absent staff.

Because they don't understand the popular mood. They are out of touch with the zeitgeist, so they float these ideas to find out. It's another sign of incompetence.

Carlson is absolutely vile. Openly racist (He doesn't even bother to hide trotting out the "fourteen words - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fourteen_Words " during his rants.) and has goaded his audience to carry out acts of violence toward mask wearers (amongst other things)

The person on the right is Glenn Greenwald a man who made his name opposing Iraq and supporting Assange and Snowden and now does not support Donald Trump.

Interesting...

High levels of T-cells from a common cold could provide some protection against Covid, a study has found.

Researchers at Imperial College London found that T-cells – a type of white blood cell that helps protect the body from infection – from common cold coronaviruses may be able to provide protection against Covid.

In a study involving 52 unvaccinated people who lived with someone who had just tested positive for Covid, they discovered that those who did not catch the virus had significantly higher levels of T-cells than people who did get infected.

The study, published in Nature Communications, provides the first evidence that suggests T-cells generated by coronavirus colds help protect the body against Covid...

But before Corbyn P and his happy band of terrorist fucknuggets get too gobby about this
Researchers said no one should rely on this defence alone and people should still get vaccinated to protect themselves against the virus.

Experts warned it would be a “grave mistake” to assume that anyone who has recently had a cold is protected against Covid, as only about 10 per cent of colds were caused by coronaviruses.
