And all he got was some people standing around for 43 seconds?

My only worry with Starmer's strategy is that if he does end up resigning I could well see Johnson rushing for a snap general election. Labour would not have time to elect a new leader so Boris would get returned with a large majority.

Lord only knows what mischief those Momentum pillocks would get up to as well.

According to Channel Four, Rayner's said that if she gets fined for being at that lunch, she'll resign, too.

Nah, that would be seen as a very low trick, with 2.5 years to run on his mandate, not least because Labour had just proved they had higher standards. I think not having had time to line the new leader up would be a disadvantage too. And it would be easy for Labour to say the government were rushing it because they knew there was bad economic news coming.

Whatever it takes to get Saint Jewemy back into the party for starters.

Latest line is "Starmer's put unfair pressure on Durham Police". Jesus. It was "why won't you answer the question about resigning?" till this afternoon.

Oh yes. Can somebody point me to where Starmer said the food was "impromptu"?

Student who shot Keir Starmer Beergate video is Breitbart writer’s son

The potentially career-ending video of Keir Starmer drinking a beer in Durham was filmed by Ivo Delingpole, the student son of the Breitbart writer James Delingpole.

Delingpole, who graduated from the University of Durham last year, was at his student house in the city, close to a venue where the Labour leader held a political campaign event on 30 April 2021.

According to individuals with knowledge of the video’s creation, it was Delingpole who spotted the Labour leader through the window of Durham Miners Hall. Starmer was drinking with a team of campaigners eating a takeaway curry at a time when the country was still under partial lockdown and large indoor social gatherings were banned.

The short video was subsequently passed to the anti-lockdown activist Laurence Fox, who tweeted it out to his followers.

Fucking hell. "Meet Keir Event"?

But hasn't he just admitted it was a campaign event. That's funny, because that's work. That's perfectly legal.

“I didn’t want to help Boris” says Durham student who filmed Starmer drinking beer in lockdown
“I saw something that I thought was an injustice and decided to film it because it made me angry”, explained the student, who wants to remain anonymous.

“There were such double standards in place. The very people that were pushing for more restrictions weren’t even following them themselves.
What restrictions weren't they following? What stricter restrictions were they calling for at that time?

Is Times Radio this bad? Cummings wasn't investigated. The Police said he might have committed a minor breach, but weren't investigating? Why would this be like Starmer's situation?

Good work here. I think Ric Holden was retweeting stuff about 30 being present too, IIRC. The Mail have dropped that.

My instincts suggest that when this is over Starmer needs to launch a counter offensive.

No bullshit about resigning when the other team don't abide by the same standards.
Contest a FPN if issued and take it to court.
Then come out swinging at all the government lickspittles who have blown this up to be something it isn't.

Cos it's; let's move on and wait for Grey and Met must prowl their beat.
But it's: Chuck him in the slammer when the big dog smells red meat.

This would be great. Rope-a-dope, absolute classic.

The Guardian can reveal that Labour has compiled time-stamped logs of WhatsApp chats, documents and video edits – which it will provide to the investigation by Durham police.

The party claims it proves the curry and beers shared between his team came as part of a long working day preparing for the Hartlepool byelection, meaning it was permitted under Covid rules at the time.
