Not a bad performance by Labour really. At this stage it's "Like your ambition!". It could easily be "So where is it?" before too long.

True but it comes amid a series of losses across the region.

Better than 2019 though. They could win a couple of Westminster seats back on this basis.

Cambs Regional Mayor all down to Peterborough second choices.
Some sign of detoxification for Labour in getting Lid Dem second preferences, I gather. But don't know how many Lib Dems there are in Peterborough.

Tories romp home in both new Northamptonshire councils. They collapsed Northamptonshire County Council, their predecessor.

Looks like quite a big win in the West of England.

Of course it's all Liam Byrne's fault.
I like Danielle but she has this weird dislike of Liam Byrne.

Byrne did use too strong a word, mind.

Ah not his letter again. Do they really not the context of that?
And what's "white" got to do with anything?

5.7K Lib Dems votes in Peterborough still to be counted with Labour 5000 votes ahead. Local activists were expecting a lot of Fenland LD 2nd votes to go Tory but not so.

In South Cambridgeshire, Nik Johnson took 14,933 votes, while James Palmer took 5,359 in the second round of counting with votes reallocated from Aidan Van de Weyer.
Huntingdonshire District Council saw 4,988 for Johnson and 2,707 votes for Palmer.
Fenland's second count saw Nik Johnson win 1,228 votes, while James palmer won 780.
In East Cambridgeshire Johnson took 4,929 votes, while Palmer ended up with 1,444.
Cambridge city saw Johnson win 8,875 votes to Palmer's 2,260
Are all those transfers from the Lib Dems?
Stunning, if they are. That could be detoxification, which would be very welcome among the less than good news.

Considering that the area represented by Fenland council is more than a bit, shall we say, "yokel"...

The amount of people who said they weren't going to vote for Lima because of that letter was from all my canvassing zero. As for being white well so's Andy Street and if Danielle were to put forward an alternative rather than carping.

Where’s it all going to end with these too clever by half types moving in and voting Liberal and Labour?
The Tory clown circus on Wisbech town council is still safe though.

But what about Whittlesey?!

Only a few minutes by pushbike from my childhood home and it was like they spoke another language....

Of course they don't understand the context of the letter. They don't want to.
And in hindsight, the leaking of that letter was the first sign that the Tories these days don't play by the rules.

In fairness to the Tories, it was David Laws who leaked it. The letter was intended for Philip Hammond, who Byrne thought would enjoy the joke.
Cameron of course milked it later. Got it out of his pocket in one of the election question sessions. Cheap.
