Can’t remember what Tom Tug was awarded Brownie points for or even recall him very well for that matter. Politics is a cruel business.

Starkey’s royal historical factoids were quite interesting at royal occasions but now the senile racist is at GBeebies expressing opinions. Describing Sunak as a man of immense talent doesn’t balance his nasty digs and baseless claims. Especially as it’s clearly not true.

He was the BBC's go to Tory for an anti-Putin line - at a time when so many Tory MPs were balls-deep in Oligarch largesse.
Did a lot of news work around the time of the Salisbury poisonings.
Occasionally rolled out to harrumph about Dave, Treeze, Boris or Rishi's latest defence cuts.

He was one of the relatively sane ones, compared to what was left in the Party. He is now clear evidence that, if you're not careful, stupid *is* catching.

How will the King recover from this.

That takes me back to posh Cotswolds kids wiggling their bums at RAF Brize Norton security guards, and stopping the invasion of Iraq.

TwllDun is taking the piss out of the hysterical coverage of the postbox saga by Nation.Cymru. The postbox itself is fair game, it's just not that significant.

Fucking Vicars and their mad schemes.
Coronation: Idea of paying homage abhorrent to King - Dimbleby
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-65493188
The King finds the idea of people paying homage to him during his Coronation "abhorrent", the broadcaster Jonathan Dimbleby believes.
For the first time, the public are being given an active role in the ceremony as they are invited to swear allegiance to the King.
But Dimbleby. a close friend of the King, said he has "never wanted to be revered".
The Archbishop of Canterbury has reiterated that the oath is voluntary.
Justin Welby said earlier this week there was "no drama" about whether the public swear allegiance to the monarch, clarifying that this was "an invitation; it's not a command".

This pub is a Royals local when at Sandringham and a line of bunting from the Poundshop is all they’ve got to mark the big occasion. And that was the only display I saw in an area where Tory councillors get 80% of the vote from a huge retired demographic.
What’s going on? Does Diana still cast a shadow or do they just still hate Charlie because of his lefty environment stuff?

More from Nation.Cymru
A town’s coronation party had to be cancelled after organisers failed to raise any money to cover costs, claiming there was a “lack of interest”.
Caldicot, in south-east Wales, was due to host a celebration in the town centre complete with big screen and children’s entertainment, but with just over a week to go the event was axed.

My mind's still boggling at the silly bugger who thought it a good idea to place a coronation-themed post-box outside a pub named for Owain Glyn Dwr.

Doubt if it even crossed their mind. It's possibly the postbox in the most prominent position, footfall wise, in the capital. I think that's what's behind it.

Who's Ben Smoke and who is that person he's slagging off?
I tried reading the replies to that tweet but gave up when no enlightenment was forthcoming.

He's a neurally divergent lad on social media who gets excited about public transport. People like (somewhat patronisingly, perhaps) his innocent enthusiasm. That's it, basically, though it seems he's not allowed to get similarly excited about aristocrats.

Ach. BBC News channel now talking to various simpletons who are camping out on the mall, the better to see the object of their obsequious adulation. Including one Murrikan wummin who has come all the way from Texas, professes to be a "royal junkie", and is wearing a fucking swan-shaped hat (I'm really not making this up).
Where the fuck do all these morons come from ?
