It is strange, though. It's (just about) commutable to Manchester and Birmingham, got good transport links and there's some spectacular scenery not far away. You'd think houses there would be in demand,.

Ninety minutes to Euston, a few Guardian lifestyle articles and you could see Stoke swamped by hipster downsizers. Gullis would love that.

If Stauwk is full of pond-life who vote for people like Gullis, I'd take deepest Thüringen over that, any day.
