Reminds me of the "Tories need a deal with UKIP" stuff from before 2015. Toby Young generously proposed that the Tories could win everywhere all over the South, while UKIP could be "the second party of the North".

The Red wall was Johnson’s trophy bride and it does make sense for the Tories to forget about it (apart from 30p Lee leading a token expeditionary force). There was never a cat in hell’s chance of Brexit voters in Surrey wanting to subsidise half empty fish factories in Grimsby.
