Sanity gains the upper hand in Switzerland
Swiss voters have firmly backed the law behind the country’s Covid pass in a referendum, following a tense campaign that saw unprecedented levels of hostility.
Early results on Sunday showed about two-thirds of voters supported the law, with market researchers GFS Bern projecting 63% backing.
The police fenced off the seat of government and parliament in Bern in anticipation of protests.
Results from 16 of Switzerland’s 26 cantons showed 61.9% had voted in favour of the law, on a 64% turnout...

That will likely narrow because the goat-shagger peasant highlands will be the last to declare.
Let's see how keen they are on their representative democracy once the dust settles.

They're all in and it finished 62% - 38%. Only Appenzell Inner Rhoden and Schwyz voted no. The turnout was very high by Swiss standards at 64%
Health minister Alain Berset (SP - Social Democrats) is telling the anti-vaxxers to accept their defeat but they're already whining about the wording of the question. (they had wanted to word the question much more inflammatorily but the Federal Chancellery told them to get fucked. Perhaps they didn't quite use those exact words but next time they should. )
Hopefully that's an end to my feed being clogged up by interminal ads from the Blocherjugend (Young SVP) pushing the proposal. I've probably done myself no favours by laugh reacting every one that I've seen.

"Why isn't there a mask mandate in hospitality? "
Javid doesn't answer.
"How is this going to be enforced, and who is going to enforce it?"
Javid doesn't answer.
Useless. Better to do too much and be wrong rather than too little.

Also it'd be easier than going overboard and having to roll some of it back then trying to trying to drag everyone along into compliance when there's already been slack on the leash.

You have to take the public along with you though and if what I see in supermarkets is anything to go by, it'll be difficult to get any real compliance again. I think Professor Whitty said as much the other day:

In a move universally welcomed, our transit system, the BVG, is levying fines of 2500 € for those who can't prove tested, healed, or max-vax status.
That'll fucking learn 'em.

Been a while since I've heard that phrase, and welcome it is to hear it again... I'll take it that unlike TfL, the BVG does not have print-your-own mask exemption passes?

While wading through the illiterate shite of the local FB group I find the caahncil offices are being used as a walk-in centre tomorrow, so I can make a minor detour after work and get my booster jab.

Alexander Johnson (Almost every PMQs): Why don't you stiop criticising and get on board to help us beat this?
Joint Scots Welsh proposal for "Four nation" approach to Epsilon today.
Alexander Johnson: No!

Au contraire. There are moves to make fakery a serious criminal offence which will attract draconian penalties. The Bosch are really not taking any prisoners in this respect.
The thing about the BVG is that it is horrible but adorable in equal measure. They, themselves, are not responsible for the discarded kebabs and zombies at 4 am but they'll be there, eventually, to get you home. Without fail.
Because of this, everyone is on their side. They are of us and for us - it's a solidarity thing and woe betide any Ossi twat who claims bogus immunity from the rules which are there to protect us all.

A quick look at the BVG site revealed something that you've already intimated upon - that in .de, type IIR masks seem to be deprecated in favour of the much more effective FFP2 mask and one of these seems to be the minimum requirement for travel, along with your '3G' pass?
Given the level of stupid around here, I've just ordered another quantity of FFP2 masks.

I received my invite for a booster on Saturday. I went on the NHS website to book it and was given the choice of two sites, both in central Bristol which is 20 odd miles away. Worse, because Bristol bans diesels in the city centre, it would involve using the park and ride. The whole process would take hours and, anyway, they had no slots this week.
Luckily, I had to pick up a prescription for Mrs O'B from the GP's - five minutes walk from home - and discovered they are doing a walk in tomorrow afternoon.
Proper job.

Boosted via a walk in.
I was number 29 in the queue and I was out within an hour.
No 40 mile round trip, no park and ride and no trying to find vaccine centres in parts of Bristol I don't know.
Sorted

Done. Now I've got to sit here for fifteen minutes. I could've been half way home by then!

There. Don't we all feel reassured by that press conference?

As I type this, I am in a
very despondent mood: mostly personal stuff in my life building up once again.
I think I'll avoid looking for Bertie Booster's yap, and head off to bed instead. It may do me some small good.

In an English speaking Swiss forum that I go on every now and again one of the ultra-libertarian posters is really whining about this. As he was a very loud and obnoxious Brexit fuckwit I really enjoyed replying to one of his rants with"You lost. Get over it."
Result - toys launched from pram into the next canton and multiple reports (according to one of the mods I know) basically "waaaahhhhh the lefty was mean to me."
