This is the only place MAGA can lead. Cornyn is awful but can on occasions come across as sane, so he has to go for some perceived slight. He outperformed Trump handily the last time he ran.
Might be worth watching this. Most likely Cornyn rallies loyal donors and wins his primary, but stranger things have happened and someone like Paxton beats him.

Fuck a Duck. Where does Trump keep getting these thick-as-boxing-day-turd , perfectly coiffed and immaculatedly dentitioned bimbo press spokespeople ?

I think in order to be Trump's press secretary you need to have enough intelligence to trot out the prepared answers but not quite enough intelligence to realise that you are spouting a load of utter bollox.

This is when you're so stupid that it doesn't cross your mind that some people might be smarter. Full Dunno-Kruger, if you will.

Christ.
Not that I think Chuck Shumer was right to agree to so long a funding bill, you can maybe see where some of the caution came from. It might not be an exaggeration to say that Trump doesn't care about a default. If you see buying products from abroad as some sort of rip off, then you probably see paying interest on debts as a rip off too. Democrats do have too are about things like defaults.
I see BTL that the world's most unsuccessful leftists (Americans) are increasingly showing up on Bluesky.

Take this as you like. Could be that they're genuinely scared of losing, or could be a cunning plan to get the Democrats to spunk a load of money on a losing cause. There's similar talk about a House district in Florida too.
I guess we'll find out soon enough. Americans don't tend to do by-election swings anything like as much as we do, so I'm skeptical.

Ladies and gentlemen. the actual Attorney General of the United States. Say what you like about Jeff Sessions, this is in a different league of bad.

Somebody, please, make it stop...
US President Donald Trump has signed an executive order targeting the Smithsonian Institution, which operates more than 20 museums and research centres visited by millions yearly in Washington DC and New York City.
The order directs the vice-president to "eliminate improper, divisive, or anti-American ideology" from the institute's museums, centres and the National Zoo in Washington.

It's a foreign country and getting more foreign by the day. I had a a quite incredible conversation with a taxi driver the other day. We chatted about the news and Musk he said that he's never felt more European these past couple of months. I'll drink to that.

I'll put this here, simply because it mentions Trump and I can't think of a more appropriate place to put it;
David Dimbleby: I thought the free market was with us forever - then Trump came along
President Trump's methods are so erratic that with him it's hard to tell what is going on. His readiness to slap hugely consequential tariffs on countries that are both traditional foes and supposed friends at times defies easy explanation.
But what we can say is that he is trying to return to ideas that preceded the free market. He is trying to make America strong through protectionism, making it harder for anyone to simply sell anywhere.

I think it's much more simple than that. Trump and Maga are driven purely by spite and victimhood. They are primarily concerned with making the lives of the people they despise worse rather than making the lives of the people they profess to love, better.

Hard to disagree with that. There does seem to be a vicious, selfish streak in many Americans of "why should someone get something for free whilst I have to pay?" - see also the whole "we pay for/feed the world".

My take; he thinks that if it cost middle America too much to buy nice things from overseas, then they will automatically rush to buy from US producers - trouble is a lot of that bears no comparison to the nice things, and, surprise surprise, US producers will instantly up the price of local goods

Yes, but I think MAGA will be happy with that providing the can see that the people they hate are hurting more.
