And there was me thinking that IDS, brain-dead sociopathic personality-vacuum that he is, still compares favourably to Bad Enoch. It's a very, very low bar, mind.

Problem here is they had a moderate wing to speak of back then.

I was just thinking that. The Tories were still a political Party, rather than the unspeakably ghastly collection of toxic headbangers they are today.

IDS did well in the local elections the year he got kicked out. That may not be repeated by Kemi this year.

Howard was agreed upon as a compromise replacement at a time when there were lots of sane Tory MPs to fight their corner. It would be a coronation of Jenrick now.

I'm amazed to see Kemi has only been leader for 3 1/2 months.

We could do with them getting a decent one in next. Labour still repairing the damage against Reform promising the earth and blaming the darkies isn't a fight I'd relish.

I see Kemi's responded to Trump calling Zelensky a dictator. Shame she then used that as an excuse to attack Starmer for not spending enough on Defence, which her lot manifestly failed to do. But there's a plan on Starmer's desk, which is nice of her.

Pathetic, everything secondary to the agro.

The Tories are on 9% with under 50s, per YouGov. That places them 4th, and only just ahead of the 5th place Greens.

Does she realise that the sort of people that would appeal to hate her for at least two reasons?

The absolutely least competent and suitable person imaginable running the worst rebuilding exercise, all the while desperately trying to appeal to people who for the most part would be delighted to deport her. Or worse.

That said, the rate she’s going she’ll deport herself soon to prove she can be trusted to deport people.

Being fairly Nigerian can't count in her favour with the gammon, either. Unless her princely brethren have dropped a vast amount of unexpected wealth in to their bank accounts.

Badenoch is at least the worst Tory leader since Truss.

The Conservatives are still criticising the very deal THEY made in the first place. You certainly couldn't make this up.

Ha, I put this on the other thread. This is potentially very amusing, but it's not done till it's done. I don't think for a minute that Trump cares what Kemi and Farage think, but there will be people in the Trump orbit who don't like the deal and might get in his ear about it.

But I said before (about the only prediction that looks like it might come true) that Trump might just as easily think "hmm, I can stick it to China better, right?"

I'm beginning to think Trump doesn't really know or care what's going on, as long as he can spin it as him winning.

I'm not sure he's got enough marbles left to know what he does want.

That German election result response seemed to suggest that.
