The new culture secretary hasn’t shown any creativity in her political career but it didn’t stop Sunak clinching the top job.
Had about 10 cabinet positions and is famous for a private members bill which probably was law anyhow but welcome.

Something I read on Facebook the other day.
A developed country isn't one where poor people have cars, it's one where rich people use public transport.
I think Rickie might qualify as rich.

It's poor planning above all else.
If the PM Has to be at planned ahead events in Devon and Cornwall on consecutive days then drop a couple of members events in the diary and stay in the area. Maybe Zelensky's visit caused an issue, so you re-arrange, is Rishi the only one who can possibly attend?

I don't say he has to use public transport. In every country, not least France where the off-TGV services can be poor, there are many journeys that can't be done time efficiently by public transport. I'd be fine if he'd gone by car from Bournemouth to St Austell via, as Matt says, a couple of local events in Devon or wherever.
I am saying he shouldn't be taking two private flights though.

This is Matthew Goodwin's firm, but I reckon it's probably straight. Otherwise, he'd have got Reform up to about 30%

Could this be the Truss bounce?

The Greg Hands story has landed.
https://www.theguardian.com/politics/20 ... -lifestyle
On the face of it, Jolyon has rather oversold this. It could be pure corruption, but equally it could have just been left off the VIP Lane list. But it's certainly possible there are more leaked documents being kept back until Hands or whoever are on the record saying something dishonest. Jolyon says much more to come.
We'll see.

‘Hands in the till’ maybe his only memorable headline.

Sunak didn't know about Gove freelancing and meeting the Opposition, apparently.

How are the polls?
Um, improving. At this rate we'll be ahead soon.

Not sure why he thinks A) this actually impacts and B) the news media will pick it up anymore than the Corbyn jibe.

Lee Anderson retweeted that ignoring the fact that a fortnight ago the Conservatives were one point better off than they are now, variance of polling has that basically jumping about like a flea.
He hasn’t for some reason retweeted the delta one that also shows 21 points (I assume it’s because Labour jumped 2 points).

Rebellion brewing v Sunak? Admittedly this is one of their biggest loons, even by current standards, but if Bozo jumps in with two feet, who knows?
I thought fixing the protocol (which he voted for) meant improving the flow of goods into NI from GB. Apparently it doesn't mean that, but something about the ECJ.

Backfire Rishi is going to be crushed by an Acme anvil while cutting a rope. I’m not feeling schadenfreude this is grotesque and surprised it hasn’t been challenged in the courts.
Huge numbers of older voters could be disenfranchised at local elections in May after official data has shown that only 505 people aged 75-plus have applied for free voter identification documents in the month since the scheme launched.
Caroline Abrahams, the charity director at Age UK, said the charity was concerned at the implementation of voter ID, and that more than 3 million over-65s had no access to the internet, so could not apply online. https://www.theguardian.com/politics/20 ... mPqeZGFr2E

Sunak is likely to put party before country on the NIP. Or he can take up Sir Keir’s generous offer and rely on Labour votes to put country before party.
