I've watched it all so far.

I getv the palliative care argument but it's not really the point of the bill, although it is good that the bill has brought it to the fore. I hadn't realised how bad it is in some areas.

I've been impressed by a lot of the thoughtful arguments - except for one of the Members for Gaza who tried to bring up the Winter Fuel Payment...

No idea.

Oh, and Fuckface Jenrick, of course, who tried to raise the spectre of the ECHR making our decisions for us...

Actually, that's something not entirely unrelated to this matter, but something I get very angry about.

Every time there's a case of some kid born with an absolutely horrifying disease or condition or disability and not a sod's chance of having any sort of "life" beyond the insides of an incubator in Alder Hey, let's call them Little Jimmy, and their parents and family are utterly distraught, this is one of the cruellest things that could happen and if there ever was a loving God how could they allow this, and they wrack themselves with guilt over what they might have done to deserve this, as if anyone ever deserves something so random and fucked up, and any sign, no matter how faint, of life or a twitch of an eye is seized upon as hope and the slimmest of chances despite all the evidence and odds, but can you blame them, and then the fucking vultures descend and some of them are the people in the Jimmy's Army t-shirts praying and protesting outside the hospital and they're the least awful of them because they're motivated by sympathy, however some of them see it as an opportunity to attack a symbol of authority, blinded by their own righteousness; but at least they're not the fucking "Christian Concern" lawyers and lobbyists who elbow their way in with false promises and digs at science and reason, and the surgeons in Tashkent or wherever who have a revolutionary new bottle of snake oil or ten speed wanking machine they want to hawk and then the Pope gets involved or fucking Trump saying this proves socialised medicine is evil, and in the middle of it all are two parents who are utterly overwhelmed and some poor kid who has no idea what's going on.

At least the Speaker didn't stand for that, either.

I live in the constituency next door to that chap. Without going into detail, let's just say that I've heard some unflattering stories.

Parliament has today taken a very significant step forward towards the humane, compassionate treatment of and the rights of people with terminal illness in England & Wales . I’m sure the Scottish parliament will follow suit if/when the Leadbeater Bill is enacted and on the statute book.

I’m not at all beyond envisioning that I may require to make the choice that the bill will enable for myself in the not-so-far-off future.

When a complex debate that doesn't allow you to position yourself against the woke lefties it's above the pay grade for wankers like Jenrick. Lee Anderson was fishing for opinions on social media, unsure of which way the libtards vote.

Woke lefties can't take tough decisions and want YOUR granny to die in agony as revenge for Brexit.

Woke lefties want to kill off older, conservative leaning people, to allow takeover by genderfluid furry teens on the meth.

Whatever the eventual result, it'll be woke lefties.

With 4.5 hours of the GMT working week left, there is still time for an even more fuckwitted post to win a Fuckwit of the Week award, as presented by that nice doctor H. Shipman.

You can file it alongside all the other nonsense catastrophising arguments that never amounted to anything that proceeded it, such as letting people other than landed gentry vote, letting women vote, decriminalising homosexuality, allowing divorce, allowing contraception, allowing abortion and so on.

Anderson voted For, to his credit. Unlike Farage, I guess he doesn't see a load of Trump theocrat money coming his way.

Just another perspective. It will not always be the old or the infirm, but cases like this show exactly why this change in law is needed and how important it is. It is about being brave enough to allow people to make a choice that is the ultimate self care decision and a choice that should be wholly theirs to make as long as they are of sound mind to make it.

This poor young woman’s only other options were suicide or essentially a life sentence of 50+ years of wretched, inescapable misery. Longer than a murderer would get, with no hope of escape and no prospect of joy.

I think all Muslim MPs voted against. I'm guessing here, but the opposition may not be entirely down to religious influence. Sultana and Begum have supported trans rights, which I'd guess are a hard sell with a lot of Muslim constituents. There seems to be a fair bit of left opposition to assisted dying, and I'd guess that's a factor too.

Corbyn voted against, but McDonnell for.

That case wouldn't be allowed under this bill, would it?
