It was Frost's reply when asked why the UK 'government' didn't negotiate easy European visas for musicians and actors.

I was thinking about Pretti's latest wheeze in stopping issuing visa's for tourists arriving from countries which she has deemed as not taking in immigrants that pass through. I'm sure this diplomatic stance is going to be ever so helpful to any discussions the Foreign and Commonwealth office may need to have with said countries

I think she is confusing "taking in" with "detaining".

Tyrone Mings: England defender hits out at Home Secretary Priti Patel after racist abuse directed towards players
You don't get to stoke the fire at the beginning of the tournament by labelling our anti-racism message as 'Gesture Politics' & then pretend to be disgusted when the very thing we're campaigning against, happens.

"Welcome to the game Priti," as Roy Keane might have quipped.

Voice of reason, Steve Baker, tries to talk the Tories out of their Patel twattery on kneeling footballers.

https://www.theguardian.com/politics/20 ... g-the-knee

Baker is an odd one. Don't doubt that he's genuine here- seen him praise David Lammy's justice ideas before when there was no obvious reason for him to do so. But he's got a few citizens of nowhere and quite a large non-white population in his constituency, so it makes sense for him to distinguish himself from Rosindell and co.

I can undrstand Mercer, and a few others.
Baker I always had penned in as one of the bitter end headbangers.

No need to repeat Baker's credentials here.
Maybe some calmer heads are noticing how the culture wars are spinning out of control.

Maybe he's "doing a Nadhim Zahawi" and rowing back from a poorly chosen battle.
Close enough to "Get brexit done" to not be a traitorous wet, but speak truth to the party animals at the top.
