Johnson said that higher levels of obesity among children was the result of people being told that there were “paedophiles everywhere”.
And who was it who told them that? Murdoch media, that's who. That Rebecca Whatsherface of the News of the World was obsessed with them. So much that it led to the Brass Eye "Paedogeddon" spoof.
Murdochism needs a boogeyman. Dangerous dogs, hippies, trade unions etc all served in the role, but none were completely beyond the pale. They were either too obvious, or had a good support base despite the Sun's best efforts. Paedophilia though, that was a masterstroke. Nobody could seriously try to defend it*, and it appealed as much to those wanting to protect children as it did to those looking for a weirdo to pulverise.
*Unless you're Baroness Claire Fox. Or Rod Lidl.

Speaking of Brass Eye my electricity company supplied me for free for most of Sunday because the grid is incapable of transferring or storing excess wind generated power on a very windy day. Heavy electricity is now a thing.

Five years ago today Boris Johnson won the sort of majority that meant there wouldn't be another Labour government for decades, if ever.

Now, were I sour-faced twat of a Trot, at this point I’d fatuously say that there still isn’t one. And I’d be a tedious cunt.

Apparently Johnson's autobiography has only sold 42,000 even if each copy went for £30 a pop that would still represent a huge loss for Harper Collins who gave him a £2m advance.

And it didn’t because Waterstones had in on sale in 2 weeks.

42,000 seems to be the figure for the first week only, but there was a pretty rapid decline. I would think the serialization would have brought a fair bit in for the publisher, but looks like a decent sized loss.

Don’t worry his Shakespeare book will make the money back.

Even funnier he cancelled his Australia tour as negligible tickets were sold and didn't want to be pictured in empty rooms.
The only question Oz or any country is interested in is how the fuck did this twat ever make PM?
Have read rumours he's plotting his comeback to save his party from oblivion. Dear Lord.

What if I suggested that Harper Collins aren't in it for profits.
Maybe some of their book deals are simply methods for the owner to channel large suns of cash money to his favoured people.
I recall Gove getting a massive advance on some obscure book that never appeared.
Johnson has penned a series, but "Disgraced PM explains how it wasn't his fault" hardly seems lie a massive money spinner.
This, in one way of inserting dark money into politics.
It's how isolated mid-sized nations fall.

Yup. Tax write-off, pocket the cash. Mel Brooks had it figured out in the 60s.

This Murdoch owned publishing house's 'advance' to Gove is clearly whiffy but give them the benefit of the doubt on Johnson's ramblings. There's millions of mugs out there who made him PM. Perhaps Harper Collins overestimated how many had the reading age above a six year old.

There's probably far easier ways to bung him a few quid that didn't involve him doing any work.

Don't forget the ego. He just wants a handsome fee for existing, but also wants to pretend he earned it - whether imagining people actually like him, or that they think he's so smart and witty. He wants to believe all the "he's a ledge" bollocks. Whereas in actual fact he's a wedge - something that keeps doors open for others.

I see Boris is entering his Corbyn-style “I did that” when he, in fact, did not do that phase…

I might be wrong here, but I don't think Bozo is the one making that claim. It's something put forward by people who don't want Ukraine to fight. for various reasons, some of them very bad.

Ah. Yeah, that’s correct actually - I read another article on the topic that was far less clear about that, but linked the Grauniad one as it was more convenient.
I’ll let Johnson off…THIS TIME!
