Lavrov was probably puzzled because someone was challenging him

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2022/ ... heft-claim
“I am from Ukrainian public television, I absolutely want to ask a question!” he said.

Lavrov appeared embarrassed by the unscripted question, after the news conference’s carefully worded exchanges.

“Apart from cereals, what other goods did you steal from Ukraine and who did you sell them to?” the journalist asked.

Lavrov, smiling, replied: “You Ukrainians are always worried about what you can steal and you think everyone thinks that way.

“Our goals there are clear, we want to save people from the pressure of the neo-Nazi regime. We are not obstructing the grain. In order for it to leave the ports, Mr Zelenskiy must give the order, that’s all,” he added.

Back around March & I posted occasionally how the Rouble was tracking until it was back to where it was before the Russian invasion of Ukraine started and I saw little need to continue updating. Right now it's at it's strongest against Sterling since 2014 at GB£1 = ₽71.

Interesting article on why the Russian Rouble has managed to strengthen over the last three months...

Why is Russia's rouble now stronger than before the Ukraine war?

https://www.rte.ie/brainstorm/2022/0615 ... raine-war/

To take from the article - current international crude oil prices, certain trading restrictions placed on Russian residents (some of which have now eased) plus demands by Russia for their energy exports to be paid in Russian Roubles. But as the article at the ends says, the ordinary Russian is largely unable to spend their strengthened Roubles either abroad or on imports because of international restrictions, so it's not as strong as it would simply appear.

A fairly long list of suspects.
It's not as through Russian nationalists have only upset Ukrainians.

Having read John Sweeney’s book it could be anyone.

In fact I’d probably put money on that it wasn’t Anything or anybody to do with Ukraine.
