In 2015 Trump announced his candidacy for POTUS and Putin began actively cultivating his asset.
The Mueller report States unequivocally that Russia conducted a systematic misinformation campaign designed to tarnish Trump’s opponents and promote his candidacy.
Russia’s influence in the 2016 election was pervasive and it worked…
With Putin’s help Donald J Trump became the 45th President of the United States and he wasted no time paying off the debt he owed to his pal Vladimir…
Trump spoke glowingly of him every chance he got… every executive decision benefited Putin.
He ceded the middle east to Russia, withdrew from Syria and allowed Putin to fill the void.
He turned his back on Ukraine, the last bastion standing between Russia and a free Europe.
He disavowed NATO, the alliance that had held Russia at bay for over 70 years.
He pulled US troops out of Germany… something the Kremlin has always wanted.
At the Helsinki summit, Trump chose to publicly believe Putin over his own intelligence agencies.
He attacked America’s friends and embraced her enemies just as Vladimir wanted.
At home Trump became the divider in chief, driving deep divisions between all the different factions of American society.
To divide America from within… to drive a wedge between blacks and whites, rich and poor, left and right, has long been a part of Putin’s KGB playbook.
Russian hackers are inflaming racial tensions across the country, infiltrating radical groups and planting disinformation on social media.
We can only hope that the US Intelligence Services are prepared to address this threat because obviously Mr.Trump isn’t.

The irony, if what the above suggests is true, of Joe Biden having withdrawn from running against Trump because he was suspected to be suffering from the early stages of Alzheimer’s, is off the scale.

If Joe Biden had made a statement claiming that Ukraine had started the war with Russia the media would have accused him of making a major gaffe, when Trump made the claim the media refused to call it a gaffe, the best they could manage was to say that he was rewriting history.

The more I hear about this "deal" the less sense any of it makes.
If Ukraine is going to give resources to the US you'd assume that would involve some continuing support, but that'd betray Putin and continue the war much as it was, so that's not happening. So what is Ukraine giving them resources for? Trump says it's for services rendered but Zelensky isn't going to sign up to that. Trump (who just makes it up as he goes along) has said Putin will accept European peacekeepers but he's made it very clear that he won't.

And where are these resources coming from ? Territory controlled by Ukraine, or by Russia? And if it's Russia, why does Trump need to do a deal with Ukraine anyway?

I think Trump is desperate to push through a deal so that he can say that he has delivered his election pledge to end the conflict. He also still thinks that he is entitled to a Nobel Peace prize to match the one given to Obama. May be the Nobel peace prize panel may just oblige in the hope that once he has got his peace prize he might stepdown as president on the grounds of ill health.

Possibly but Obama was also right that Al Quaeda was the existential threat to the West and Russia was offering to be an ally. Shameful though it was for anyone maintaining the fiction that the brutal raising of Grozny was another chapter in the war on Islamic terror.
