The planets are all aligning nicely. Step down graciously to prevent further in-fighting (ie avoid defeat) and twelve months down the line Lord Johnson of Brexit-on-Thames has the role he's always wanted - former Prime Minister with a seat in the Lords to speak up every time he wants to remind lecture circuit promoters and publishers that he's still alive.

Can’t see any advantage for Sunak bringing the defeated Uxbridge MP back to life with a peerage. Unless he’s as gutless as Mike Pence.

Resignation honours list - part because it's expected, part to appease the ERG.

It would be very odd if Sunak didn't give the leader who gave them their biggest election victory in forty years a peerage.

By the time Sunak is resigning - which I assume would be post election defeat, there’ll be a lot fewer ERG members and he won’t owe them anything or care about appeasing them anyway. And what better way to finally say “fuck you” to backstabbing, bitter Boris than *not* giving him a peerage. Because there won’t be another Tory PM resignation honours list for hopefully at least a decade. That’s 10 years of the bilious shitbag stewing about it. Marvellous.

Thatcher was the last PM to take a peerage. Blair was in office for 10 years and delivered thumping majorities. Cameron was in office longer than Johnson. There's no reason why the fucker deserves ennoblement. Although it's quite funny that it means so much to him and his ilk. A curious sense of snobbery and entitlement.

He's been referred to the police.

Boris Johnson has been referred to the police by the Cabinet Office over new claims he broke COVID lockdown rules.

The former prime minister's ministerial diary has revealed visits by friends to Chequers during the pandemic.

The visits to the grace-and-favour residence were highlighted during preparations for a public inquiry into COVID, according to The Times which first reported on the story.

To be fair, Johnson does answer all questions asked of him. It’s just a shame he replies with either the answer to an entirely different question, or a complete load of bullshit, or a toxic concoction of both.

Whilst I think it is very unlikely that the police will take any further action against Johnson these new revelations will probably mean that the privilege committees investigation is likely to drag on for most of the Summer so there is no way that Johnson will be in any position to launch another leadership bid this side of the party conference.

Johnson claims that he was unaware of this latest development but I think it is very convenient that Johnson revealed to the press yesterday that he was about to become a father yet again. He clearly knew this story was coming so tried to get the pregnancy story out to try and gain a bit of good publicity.

Was Johnson, Truss or Sunak in charge of the criminal conspiracy to gerrymander an election? Witness Mogg confirmed it happened on TV. Reg from the Bill could handle this one.

On the latter, this would cover his arse very well, as he could say that a decision was made in cabinet which he may have disagreed with, but was bound to promote by collective responsibility. See also, any statement made in the referendum campaign. A crucial get out clause at the vital point.

He probably would say that in an interview under caution. Perhaps I’ve lost perspective and should accept that is how life is; admitting to rigging elections is no big deal as no one will care or do anything about it. Doubt that’s how small c conservative voters Labour is so hot on, will see it.
